The survey found that on average people currently use 3.3-4.7 communication media daily or often, but expect to use 1.7 fewer media in five years. While older technologies like email, texting and phone calls are still most commonly used for business and personal communications, people expect to use email and paper mail less over the next five years as newer media like texting and internal corporate messaging gain popularity. Younger survey respondents anticipate using fewer communication media overall in the future compared to older respondents.
