TYPES OF
IRONY
VERBAL IRONY – saying
one thing when you
really mean the
opposite or contrary.
SITUATIONAL IRONY – what
actually happens is
opposite of what is
expected.
DRAMATIC IRONY – the
reader or audience
knows something a
character does not.
PRACTICE
Direction: Indicate whether

verbal irony, situational irony
