This document summarizes a study that modified bitumen with sugarcane molasses, coconut shell charcoal (CSC), and combinations of the two. Various tests were conducted to determine the optimum percentages for modification. The key findings were:
1. The optimum percentage of molasses for modifying bitumen was determined to be 9% based on ductility, softening point, viscosity, and specific gravity tests.
2. CSC was found to have an optimum modification percentage of 20% when added to bitumen as determined by the same set of tests.
3. Testing combinations of molasses and CSC revealed that the optimum was 8% molasses and 4% CSC for modified bitumen.
