1. IPC have been associated with magazines and target audience such as Yachting monthly and superbike. In the early 1900s IPC published Yachting monthly , cage birds and motor boat. All of these were specialist magazines aimed at male audience due to the years they were published. In 1911 IPC published a women's magazine called woman's weekly. During the wars more and more women's magazines were lunched due to there being lots of women at home while the men were at war. In the 1950s and 1960s when music and TV were coming in to swing IPC published NME In 1952 and TV times in 1955. In the 1960’s saw shoot a football magazine being published as well as Rugby world. During the 80’s an increase in specialist magazines meant magazines such as motor caravan magazine , classic boat and model collector were published. In the 90’S IPC published Now as women's magazines were becoming increasingly popular. then in 2004 Nuts was published the first men’s weekly magazine
2. IPC might be an appropriate publisher for a new music magazine as they have experience and resources, which means they will know how to make a magazine appeal to its readers as well as have enough funds to make advertise and make the magazine herd of even before its published. IPC are more likely to publish a main stream music magazine such as NME so that they will have a wider target audience and more likely to have larger profits off that magazine. An alternative publisher like Bauer may be appropriate for lunching magazines such as kerrang as Bauer deal with more specific magazines but still have the experience and resources of IPC
