This document discusses four challenges facing Christianity: historical, doctrinal, liturgical, and missional. It examines how Christian practices like baptism, communion, and hymns can either promote hostility or kindness. It argues liturgies should inspire reconciliation rather than reinforce divisions. Specificity in religious education is important to nurture spiritual literacy and understanding of other faiths. The goal is transforming practices that divide into ones that build harmony.
PREFACE
The purpose of this little book can be very
simply stated. It makes no pretence whatever
to be a learned exposition of this gracious
epistle to the Philippians, although I trust that
in no single instance does it pass beyond what
is permitted by sound and accurate scholarship.
I have taken the epistle, and have sought to lift
it out of all remote and fleeting significance, by
laying it side by side with the human interests,
and the spiritual life and needs of our own
day. The letter is alive, and in constant touch
with the abiding concerns of the human heart;
and I have tried, by divesting it of its ancient
phraseology, and giving it modern expression,
to bring its comfort and inspiration to some
who are walking the pilgrim way in our own
time.
Important study on the Emergent Church and its infiltration into Protestantism and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The Omega of apostasy will deceive many people, for the devil is behind it. Our only safety is in an abiding relationship with Jesus Christ, and serious study of the Bible.

How does this Easter Season call us to change in order to gain focus and direction within our lives and our faith? It would seem the release of Pope Francis’ latest exhortation, Rejoice and Be Glad! lends perfect timing to help answer that question. What suggestions does the Pope make to you and me on how to answer the “call to holiness in a practical way for our own time, with all its risks, challenges and opportunities?” The answer partly lies with one word echoed throughout Lent and in today’s readings…but it doesn’t mean what you think it does! So what is it and what did the Pope have to say? Well better check it all out!
The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

15. All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.
- Ms. Cecil Alexander (1848)
16. Each little flower that opens,/ Each little bird that sings,/
He made their glowing colors./ He made their tiny wings.
The purple headed mountains,/ The river running by,/ The
sunset and the morning/ That brightens up the sky.
The cold wind in the winter,/ The pleasant summer sun,/
The ripe fruits in the garden,/ He made them every one.
The tall trees in the greenwood,/The meadows where we
play,/ The rushes by the water,/ To gather every day.
He gave us eyes to see them,/ And lips that we might tell/
How great is God Almighty,/ Who has made all things
well.
All things bright and beautiful,/ All creatures great
and small,/ All things wise and wonderful:/ The
Lord God made them all.

All things wise and wonderful:

20. O holy night, the stars are brightly shining;
It is the night of the dear Savior’s birth!
Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope, the weary soul rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees, O hear the angel voices!
O night divine, O night when Christ was born!
O night, O holy night, O night divine!
21. Truly He taught us to love one another;
His law is love and His Gospel is peace.
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother
And in His Name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
Let all within us praise His holy Name!
Christ is the Lord! O praise His name forever!
His pow’r and glory evermore proclaim!
His pow’r and glory evermore proclaim!

54. From Catherine Maresca (Catechesis of the Good Shepherd)
Finally, [Maria] Cavalletti emphasizes the importance of
being specific. You can’t teach children language without
teaching children a language. She writes, “Wishing to stay
on a vague level without any specific content is the same as
wanting a child to talk without using any particular
language.” Some parents say they don’t want their children
to learn a particular religion because they want them to be
free to choose their own. But these children are missing the
opportunity to become spiritually literate.
To be initiated into the signs of their religious tradition
creates the possibility of grasping the signs of many
traditions, and of respecting the integrity of each of those
traditions. So we need to be religious in a particular way,
true to the faith we affirm for ourselves, in order to foster the
spiritual and religious literacy of our children. world this is a
service to our children. We have to be specific.
55. While we don’t reject other traditions, a particular
religion has to be our starting point. To say, “I’m
spiritual but not religious” is like saying, “I’m
linguistic but don’t speak any particular language.”
Everyone has innate linguistic capacity that gets
activated as one learns a particular language or
languages. Likewise, everyone has spiritual capacity
that gets activated and mobilized through becoming
religious in a particular way. Becoming religious in a
particular way is foundational for relating to the
religious other.
56. Children who have learned their native language well are
poised to learn new languages with greater ease. Children who
learned the language of their religious tradition are likewise
poised to grasp the sacred signs of another tradition. As we
nurture the spiritual life of young children with sacred signs,
we simultaneously build the foundation of respect and
understanding for others’ beliefs. With spiritual literacy, faith
and interfaith formation work hand in hand, promoting in turn a
more peaceful world.
