Optical sensors are classified as either extrinsic or intrinsic based on whether the light interacts with the measurand inside or outside of the optical fiber. They have a wide range of applications in areas such as temperature, chemical concentration, strain, biomedical, and more. A versatile wireless sensor device for security alerts and home automation
This document describes a wireless sensor device that can be controlled through hand gestures for home automation and security alerts. It allows controlling devices and appliances, providing security alerts through SMS, capturing video images, locking/unlocking systems, and opening/closing applications and the PC through hand gestures mapped to commands. The device aims to make human-computer interaction more intuitive through contactless gestures. The document outlines a high level design for a miniature switch implanted in shoes to prevent falls in the elderly.
