The Internet of Things (IoT) describes the network of physical objects embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies to connect and exchange data over the Internet. The evolution of IoT began with pre-Internet human-to-human communication networks, progressed to include the Internet of content through services like email, and further developed into the Internet of services and people through technologies like social media. Now, IoT represents the next stage of connecting machines to enable machine-to-machine communication and exchange of data.
