March 2012, we encountered six white-tailed deer crossing the roads in front of our car within a period of just an hour.
Food is produced on several farms on the island, including a chicken farm, a pig den with wild pigs and several fruit- and vegetable-farms.
The resort only needs to import beef and salad. All other food is being produced on the island or fished in it's surrounding waters.

Over 50 miles of roads and several bridges allow access to the most majestic and beautiful points of
interest on the island. The majority of these roads are lined with coconut palm trees that enhance the
Tropical jungle experiences.
All of the roads on the island have compressed gravel secured in a clay base. There are two types of
roads on the island, the main roads and the secondary, less traveled roads. The secondary roads have
been covered with green grass, adding to the beauty of traveling through this jungle paradise.
These roads are utilized by the ATV Tours and for transportation
to the Private Group Excursions.
They also provide excellent viewing of the wildlife in their natural habitat.

Hacienda Del Mar resort operates a fleet of six fishing vessels and several jet skis.
A fleet of support vehicles and machinery is in operation today, including dump trucks, flat bed trucks,
graders, tractors, steam roller, guests vans, pick-up trucks, and road maintenance equipment. The
existing quarry and rock crusher are capable of producing thousands of tons of crushed rocks for use
in road and parcel development.
Water is provided to Hacienda Del Mar and the Employee Living Quarters by a purification plant
with a capacity of 3000 gallons per hour. Three generators service Hacienda Del Mar. The generators
are located over 2,000 feet away from Hacienda Del Mar and cannot be heard or seen by the guests
of the hotel.
A mobile phone tower has been erected in 2011 and provides a full cell phone-signal throughout the
island. Living quarters for approximately 38 full time staff are currently located on the island. This staff
receives room and board and is dedicated to the support of business operations (Hacienda Del Mar)
and island maintenance.

In the past decade Panama has received a lot of interest as a tourist
destination. The tourism sector has grown an average of 15 percent annually
over the last two years.
San José Island is ideally situated to capture market share for select hotel
operators. The current maritime routes, when entering and leaving the
Panama Canal, have no option but to steam due South and pass within
