Taking a solo trip is a rewarding experience that allows us to experience the things we want to see and do, without having to worry about anyone else or plan around the needs of others. Most of all, it’s a chance to live and grow.

P6 finalists Ben, Rachel and Cai competed to win the Steven Lui cup for Burns Recital at the P4-7 Assembly on Friday 29th January 2016. All three contenders were outstanding, giving an exceptionally high standard of performance. The closely run decision was taken to award Rachel with the cup for her very confident delivery and stage presence. Well done to all!
Jonathan in P7B, assisted by Sam, gave a superb account of how he set about achieving the 'Me and My World' section of his Junior Award Scheme for Schools (JASS) award by supporting local charity Re-Act Scotland. An exemplary model for other pupils to follow.
The face of tourism has been changing; consumers are seeking experiences that offer an emotive connection rather than just a transaction experience. This is particularly evident with the younger generation.
Tourists are now venturing off the beaten track to see more nature - based experiences that can be shared on social media. The trend is particularly evident when considering geologically rich places with interesting landscapes or rock formations. In the outback, we have a wide range of outstanding landscapes and sculptures to promote to this new breed of traveller. Our focus is to provide access and knowledge of our wonderful natural assets to a technologically savvy marketplace. OQTA’s 2020 vison is to highlight four key themes and hero experiences in the outback: Paleotourism, Outback Adventures, Heritage and Locals and Outback Events – promoting the natural gorges, lookouts, parks, scenic flights, Aboriginal rock art and drives. OQTA see the potential to join this vision, by creating and promoting self-drive itineraries with the focus on geotourism attractions.
We see an opportunity to build self-drive itineraries that focus on the hero experiences .This will drive the consumer preference of finding these remarkable natural offerings and target markets that are time poor. There are many niche markets that are accessible and make marketing more value driven as well as targeting more engaged audiences. For example: Twitchers; Snailers; agri-tourists; wildlife lovers; cultural and heritage to name a few. This is what will drive tourism in to the future and fits so well with Geotourism.

Celebrating Indian Festivals with UPICA.pptxupica400
Welcome to the colorful world of UPICA (Uttar Pradesh in Canada), a close-knit community that stands as a beacon of support for the people of Uttar Pradesh living in Canada. In this blog, we'll delve into the heartwarming celebrations of Indian festivals by UPICA, exploring the unique blend of traditions and the strong sense of community that defines their events
In Chisana, Alaska, site of the last historic gold rush and once named the largest log-cabin settlement in Alaska, 90-year-old Pioneer Outfitters depends on air travel to survive.
In September 2013, our only hope for extended survival, Cubby, was destroyed in a fire that left us stranded deep in the Alaskan wilderness inside the Wrangell Mountains. It was the worst kind of blow our extended family has had to endure.
We are now dependent on twice weekly deliveries of food, clothing, mail, fuel, feed, and more at $.40 per pound.
What’s more, we can no longer rescue or evacuate anyone in need. Our horses may die needing our assistance as we cannot travel by air to find where they have ranged.
Our home is only accessible by air, and we live in Wrangell St. Elias National Park and Preserve, our nation’s largest National Park.
This campaign, Stand for the Man In Black, is to raise funds to replace our airplane. We seek $250,000 to replace the plane lost to fire for the following:
· Fly in fuel and groceries for the professional wilderness guides we train and the families and Team that live here year round.
· Fly in hay and feed for the range horses and livestock we watch over and care for each winter who are also part of our Team.
· Fly in fuel which runs the generators that supply the power for the phone system for the Chisana community.
· Locate and rescue by air of the community’s livestock and horses to ensure they’re not lost, hurt or frozen.
· Rescue of trapped hikers and injured hunters, broken-down snowmobiles, or others stranded in the Alaska wilderness we live in.
· Medical evacuation for anyone in need of physicians who are only accessible by air.
The wilderness and the space ~ untouched by commercial tourism, the majestic mountains looming over and surrounding us, as far as the eye can see; more glaciers of all sizes and scale; wildlife and flora of every shape, all free, all amazing. This is where we call home. This is what we share with the world with our horses and experience.
My name is Amber-Lee Dibble. I have worked for Terry Overly and Pioneer Outfitters for over 20 years. I am a United States Navy Veteran and a Professional Alaska Guide.
Terry is one of the kindest, most generous men I have ever known. I am proud to Stand for the Man in Black and to call him my Boss, mentor and friend. He has been like a father to me and is Grandfather to my children, for more than half my life and all of theirs.
Terry is a selfless, gentle man who puts others first always. My goal is to rebuild and fulfill a very special dream.
Stand for the Man in Black is incredibly important, and I need your help.
I believe in you. The friendships I have been offered, helping hands, the wisdom and advice, your guidance, the beautiful kindness across the world have been bestowed since I started my social media journey in 2010.
You’ve touched my heart and changed me. That’s why I need your help to make this dream come true

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

Named VOLUNTEERING as one of the
NINE WAYS
TO INVEST IN HAPPINESS
11. VOLUNTEERING
has the ability to not only make an individual feel valuable
but also helps them to realize the world can be a better place
12. Over thirty years ago
Canadian humanitarian Ray Barnett decided to invest in
happiness, namely, the happiness of others. He was on a
service trip to war-torn Uganda where he met a young
boy seeking safe shelter in a nearby village. Burnett
agreed to give this boy a ride, and during their journey,
the boy sang.
13. FOUNDER OF THE AFRICAN CHILDREN'S CHOIR
Ray Barnett
When I went back to
Canada and people
were not very
interested in
Uganda, I
remembered this
small boy. I know
that if only a group
of these beautiful
children could go to
the West, people
would be deeply
moved and would
certainly want to
help
15. The Choir tours the West,
inspiring audiences with their
songs, their stories, and their
sheer, pure happiness. It’s a pretty
jarring moment, especially for
materialistic Westerners, to watch
these joyful children sing and
dance knowing they come from
underserved, impoverished
villages, many of them without
one or both parents.
16. The funds raised from the choir’s tours have gone towards
constructing multiple Children’s Homes, Literacy Schools, as
well as developing a sponsorship arm in which educational
needs of the choir children could continue throughout their
academic careers.
