This document summarizes research investigating the potential for mobile phones to support e-governance in Indonesia. The research found that mobile internet use is highest in Indonesia compared to other Southeast Asian countries due to low fixed-line internet penetration. The top government websites visited were for the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Agriculture, and Ministry of Education and Culture. The research was limited but suggests optimizing social media, introducing ICTs in schools, and developing community mobile apps to better leverage mobile phones for e-governance in Indonesia.
