This document introduces physics and its branches. Physics is the study of natural phenomena and the fundamental laws governing them. It deals with the most basic things in nature like force, motion, heat, sound, matter, electricity, magnetism and light. Physics can be divided into classical physics and modern physics. Classical physics includes mechanics, wave physics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism and optics. Modern physics includes atomic physics, nuclear physics and quantum mechanics. Physics is the foundation of science. Without an understanding of physics, other sciences like biology, chemistry, geology and astronomy cannot fully explain various natural phenomena. Physics is also essential for various engineering fields like civil, mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering.
