It outlines the learning objectives which are to understand the significance and scope of public nutrition, knowledge of key nutritional problems, government programs, and the roles and skills of a public health nutritionist. It defines public health nutrition as using organized, multidisciplinary approaches to prevent nutrition-related illness through health promotion and government policies. It lists several major nutritional problems in India like protein energy malnutrition, anemia, iodine deficiency and describes key government intervention strategies and programs to address malnutrition like Poshan Abhiyan and achieving a Malnutrition Free India by 2022.
