The OCR GCSE examThe OCR GCSE exam
O It is split into two sections:
O A – Action/adventure film or magazines
O B – TV comedy
O We will be concentrating on the
action/adventure part of the exam.

Exam?Exam?
O The purpose of this exam is to assess:
O AO1 – Candidates’ ability to recall, select,
use and communicate their knowledge and
understanding of media products and the
contexts of their production and consumption
in analysing a short unseen moving image
extract.
O AO2 – Candidates’ ability to analyse and
respond to a short, unseen moving image
extract using media key concepts and
appropriate terminology.

Exam?Exam?
O The examination is 1 hour 45 minutes long.
O Candidates are required to answer four compulsory
questions; three will be on the action/adventure clip.
O The unit is marked out of 80, with Section A marked
out of 50.

O You will view a clip from an action/adventure film that
is 3–5 minutes in length.
O You will view this four times.
O You will then answer three questions on the clip that
focus on genre and representation.

action/adventure genre. [10 marks]
2. Explain how each of the following is used to create effect:
