 Popular culture is well-liked by many people.  Who is doing the liking?  Distinction between “High” and “Low” Culture  Popular culture is what is left over after high culture.  Popular culture can be defined as mass culture.  Commercial, Mass Consumption, Passive Consumption  Popular culture originates from “the people”  Wh0 are “the people?”  People do not spontaneously make culture
 Popular culture is viewed as a struggle between dominant and subservient classes  Popular culture in its modern form blurs distinction between high and pop culture

  • 7.  Popular culture is well-liked by many people.  Who is doing the liking?  Distinction between “High” and “Low” Culture  Popular culture is what is left over after high culture.  Popular culture can be defined as mass culture.  Commercial, Mass Consumption, Passive Consumption  Popular culture originates from “the people”  Wh0 are “the people?”  People do not spontaneously make culture
