Comax Corp introduced their Touch Lens technology in 2007 as a solution to create an iPhone-like design for PDAs and phones without Apple's exclusive capacitive touchscreen. Touch Lens integrates a decorative lens into the touchscreen assembly to replace the bezel, allowing the touch interface to be flush with the surface. However, Touch Lens requires high manufacturing precision and experience to maintain touch sensitivity and linearity through the additional lens layer. It also has limited production capacity initially. Comax positioned Touch Lens as enabling an iPhone-like design and user experience for devices while maintaining features like handwriting input and lower costs compared to capacitive touchscreens.

Development Concept (1) i-Phone-like outlook solution Following the Apple i-Phone mania in 2007, the standard of new generation PDA phone has been redefined with its powerful touch interface and complete flat modern outlook. However, as i-Phone’s capacitive TSP technology is still exclusive to Apple’s product, it becomes the new PDA phone design direction to create an i-Phone-like shape with other solution.

3. Development Concept (2) Touch Lens Assembly: Touch Lens (TSP with a decoration lens) can replace lens as a part of the face cover, and it comes with touch input function. It makes TSP becoming a part of product outlook and gives more space for design. Traditional TSP Assembly: TSP is laminated on display as a module and installed beneath the bezel of the face plate. 4. Development Concept (3) High manufacturing ability and experience required! Comparing with the traditional TSP, as the sensibility and linearity of Touch Lens will be reduced by its extra decoration lens layer, it requires the highest manufacturing ability to guarantee the quality. Until now, the pioneer makers in this field with mass-production experience are only Nissha and us. The others are mostly in sampling stage. Limited production capacity! Touch Lens not only require high technology support but also mass labor power for assembly and process. Thus, the capacity for this product is still limited.

6. Touch Lens Application PDA phone: One of the most successful application is on HTC touch. With its exclusive touch FLO interface for one finger (thumb) operating concept and flat outlook design, it becomes another popular PDA phone after iPhone.
