2. Do employee’s know this extent?
• Workplace tracking technology is largely unregulated, and courts have
found that employees have few rights to privacy on the job.
• What are your thoughts?

3. Tracking
• Organizations have the right to monitor what employees do and how
technology in the office/workplace is being used.
• Employers are capable of is tracking the amount of time an employee
spends away from the computer or idle time at the cubicle.

4. What is being monitored?
• Employers can use computer software that enables them to see what
is on the screen or stored in an employee's computer terminal or hard
drive; monitoring can include everything from web-surfing to email to
keyboard typing per hour.

5. Why monitoring in the workplace?
• Employers are stating that such measures improve workplace safety
and productivity while also helping to reduce theft, protect secrets,
and investigate harassment or discrimination claims, among other
things.

6. Why is this an ethical issue?
• This is an ethical issue today because employee's feel a sense of
invasion of privacy, employee’s feel as though that they should be
trusted in the workplace to do their job and not be monitored.
