It is very important not to trust that every website
contains reliable information.
8. One way is through URLs and Domain Names
URL: Uniform Resource Locator
The website address or location of a website
Domain Name: tells us the type of organization that
published the information
Domain Name Extension is the 3-letter part of the
address just before the first slash in the address (/)
9. .edu = educational (www.iastate.edu)
.gov = government (www.whitehouse.gov)
.org = non-profit organization (www.pbskids.org)
.mil = military (www.army.mil)
.com = commercial and individual (www.disney.com)
.net = commerical – alternate to .com
.ia = state (www.waukee.k12.ia.us)
.uk = country (www.bbc.co.uk)
