On December 6, 2016, the General Assembly of the United Nations approved the resolution declaring June 30 the International Asteroid Day "to celebrate each year at the international level the anniversary of the impact of Tunguska, in Siberia (Russian Federation ), which occurred on June 30, 1908, and to increase public awareness of the danger of impact of asteroids ».
