The document provides an analysis of taxation schemes for telecom operators and Over-The-Top (OTT) players in different countries. It finds that:
1) France has the highest taxes on telecom operators at 2.98% of revenue compared to 0.07% in the UK. These taxes account for 20% of operators' investments in France.
2) OTT players like Google and Apple use complex tax structures involving countries like Ireland, the Netherlands, Bermuda, and Luxembourg to minimize their tax payments. They pay much lower taxes than if their activities were taxed where value is generated.
3) Countries hosting OTT headquarters benefit from jobs and spending but lose significant potential tax revenue through the

Scrambling for New Taxable Bases - Global Digital Economy and Local Fiscal Me...University of Ferrara
This is the presentation used during the Conference held (virtually) at the University of Sevilla "Pablo de Olavide" on December 3rd 2020. It0s a summary of previous input statement with some minor updates as the COVID-19 situation is evolving. The event has been sponsored by the Junta de Andalucía and the European Union in the framework of a research project I am partner of, sponsored by the Spanish ministry of Education.
This report is a reminder that telecom operators are the pillars of the digital economy. It also stresses that France and Europe are at risk of a "digital slip" despite recent initiatives. It calls for public authorities to restore a balance in digital-related policies, by benchmarking against best practices from around the world.
The Telecommunications Business in Switzerland - Liberalization and RegulationRoberto Balmer
This presentation describes the fundamental challenges for a policy maker to design the telecoms industry: Privatization, Liberalization and Regulation. The presentation focuses on how economic policy has been applied in Switzerland and to Swisscom.
The telecommunication market is in constant evolution with emerging and mature technologies such as 5G, optic fibre, ADSL and VDSL.
5G is the fifth generation technology for broadband cellular networks, which is the planned successor to the 4G networks that provide connectivity to most current smartphones in 2020.
Companies like Ericsson, Orange, Ceragon, Interdigital are paving the way with services and products for the 5G technology.
Financial Transaction Tax as a Resource for the Covid-19 Crisis ? University of Ferrara

Principaux faits :

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work.
