Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, Turkey served as the home for Ottoman sultans from the 15th century until the mid-19th century. It was built in the 1450s on the orders of Mehmed II after he conquered Constantinople, on the site of a former olive grove overlooking the Bosphorus. Over time, it grew to include a complex of buildings within a walled compound, including state rooms, kitchens, treasuries and barracks. 2.  Topkapi Palace was home to all the Ottoman
sultans until the rule of Abdulmecid I (1839-1860), a
time of almost four centuries.
 The request for the development of the Topkapi
Palace on the Seraglio Point disregarding both
Marmara and Bosphorus was given by Mehmed II
after the success of Constantinapolis in 1453.

4.  The spot was then an aged olive forest. The last
manifestation of the first royal residence secured a
region 700m², and was encased with sustained
dividers 1400 meters long.
