Interactions in an Ecosystem
Organisms interact with one another for their survival.
Different types of interactions
• Competition – organisms compete with each other to
obtain resource/s.
Example:
• Predation – an interaction in which one organism benefits
and the other one is being harm or killed.
Example:
•Symbiosis – organisms live together
- Mutualism – A two way relationship/give and take
relationship. Both organisms benefits.
Example: Carabao and bird
- Parasitism – A relationship in which one organism benefits
and the other one is harmed or injured.
Example: Lice and dog
Host = dog
parasite = lice
- Commensalism –An
interaction in which one
organism benefits and the
other one is neither harmed
nor injured.
Example:Tree and orchid
- both organisms can be
called as commensal
