2. The program aims to transform Pasig into a
progressive city with clean air, safe
water and a healthy environment where
there are lush urban forest and green
spaces and is populated by people who are
ecologically empowered. Under the project,
environmental protection is fully
integrated with community development.
3. ENVIRONMENTAL
PERMIT TO OPERATE
It requires all establishment to
secure this permit and to
install anti-pollution devices.
It is also called as CENRO.
TREE PLANTING
ACTIVITIES
The activity has heightened people’s
awareness on proper environmental
management. And because of vegetable
gardening, people now have access to
organic vegetables and traditional
herbal remedies. The city has planted
more than 22,000 trees.
ALTERNATIVE
LIVELIHOOD
About 800 women have been trained and
employed as makers of water lily
bags. It gave women the opportunity
to increase their earning and coping
capacity. It also helped improve the
water quality of the city because
water pollution was reduced.

4. Pasig City -
Smart City
with a Green
Heart
The main goal of this activity is to
build resilient communities that can
withstand the effects of climate
change.
In addition to disaster management,
Pasig City also intends to reduce
its carbon footprint by reducing
fuel consumption and carbon
emissions from motorized vehicles
through the city’s existing bike
sharing program and implementing
carless streets on Sundays.

5. PASIG HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED FOR ITS SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT
PROGRAM AND SERVES AS A MODEL OF A LIVEABLE CITY, HAVING
WON THE GALING POOK AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING LOCAL
GOVERNMENT PROGRAM (2017) AND LGU ECO CHAMPION NATIONAL
AWARDS (2015)
6. Pasig City still has a long way to go in
reducing its GHG emissions, and we are by
no means shifting the burden of climate
action to our constituents. Rather, we want
to engage our constituents directly because
we recognize the value of inclusive climate
planning and of driving climate action from
the bottom up. Pasig City is taking steps
towards transformative climate action.
Together with our constituents, we are up
for that challenge.
With these small and continuously evolving
strategies, perhaps Pasig City will, one
day, take its place alongside Kyoto, Paris,
and Seoul as cities that are transforming
our approach to climate action.

WHILE AT THE SAME TIME LEARNING ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF
ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND CONSERVATION, COMPOSTING, AND
ACTIVE MOBILITY,” SAYS PASIG MAYOR VICO SOTTO.
8. Ambitious
City Promises
CITY OFFICIALS PERUSE ACP
MATERIALS AT A CIBIX MEETING
A City Promise represents a different
theory of climate action, one that
espouses mutual trust, reputation-driven
accountability, ambitious targets, and ‒
most importantly ‒ collaboration with
relevant stakeholders.
PASIG HAS COMMITTED ITSELF TO A
CLIMATE ACTION MORE AMBITIOUS THAN
THE NATIONAL TARGETS: A 20%
EMISSIONS REDUCTION BY 2030,
RELATIVE TO THE BASE YEAR OF 2017.
THIS IS A REMARKABLE MISSION, SINCE
EMISSIONS REDUCTIONS OF THE
MAJORITY OF THE REGION ARE USUALLY
CALCULATED RELATIVE TO A BUSINESS
AS USUAL SCENARIO, WHICH OFTEN
RESULTS IN A NET EMISSIONS INCREASE
FOR CITIES IN THE GLOBAL SOUTH.

11. Pasig
Streets
for People
Through this program, the
street becomes an ‘open
public space’ that’s off-
limits to all vehicles on
weekends. Pedestrians can
roam around or exercise in
the area, and activities
such as jogging, zumba, and
cycling are allowed.
12. Free Bike Lessons
offered in Pasig City
Free bicycle lessons were
offered to encourage more
people to cycle and
advocate for more bike
lanes. Free bicycle
lessons were offered in
Pasig City on Sunday to
encourage more people to
cycle and advocate for
more bike lanes.
13. Pasig Bike
Share
These bikes-for-rent are operated
securely through smart cards. Bike
renters only need to swipe the card
onto the lock to release the bike from
the dock where it is attached to. Bike
share is free for the first 30 minutes
and costs P10 per hour afterward.
Although, Pasig City has temporarily
repurposed its Bike Share units to help
frontline government personnel and
health workers get to work.
