I paused my Consultancy for the first 8 weeks of lockdown to manage our 2 other businesses and to volunteer as support for our community's more vulnerable. Now as the "New Normal" emerges, a quick reflection that inspiration is everywhere - if you look hard enough.
3. 1. Any business can be Agile
• The Royal Mint is nearly 600 years old as an
organisation
• They pivoted their business to produce face
masks……..
• In just 48 hours
If they can cut through bureaucracy, process
and pivot in 2 days – so can you
5. 2. Opportunity exists in the strangest places
• The Money Advice Service recommends keeping 3
months’ in savings for emergencies
• Pre- CoVid just under a third of people in the UK had
less than £1,500 in savings
• 15% of people had no savings at all
• Citimark calculates that lockdown household spending
had reduced – meaning the average UK household
could have saved almost £900 by now
This may be a once in a decade opportunity to
change habits for good
6.
7. 3. Power of community
• My home town, Emsworth set up a volunteer
network on lockdown day 1
– 160 people volunteered (including me)
– Online shopping for local shops was set up – for free
by volunteers
– A prescription delivery service was established for
people isolating
– Shopping assistance, mental health support, errands
and food bank deliveries and were set up – and singer
performances!
If you approach a problem with all of you looking for
a solution, great things happen
Firstly HUGE WELCOME ALL FRIENDS
I am Sean Curtis, I have been Marketing Director with a number of FTSE 100 companies and also had the pleasure to work with and mentor a number of start-ups over the years. And run 3 companies myself
Now I have been on many courses and I always got annoyed when you left with tonnes of notes a massive To-Do list and you didn’t feel like you’d actually achieved anything and that’s why we set up Turbo –
the idea is you leave this course having learnt something, having done something and having planned something.
That said, I want the course to be as informative and as fun as possible, so I have included many examples to make demonstrate certain points and it will be great to make it interactive so if you have a question during the training please don’t hesitate to ask, but if we start to burn too much time, we may choose to put it in the basket for questions at the end.
So enough about us, I am going to ask each of you to give a quick intro who you are, what you do and how you currently use LinkedIn
Chatham House – some visual examples
Genuinely think people that tried to sell in the first month did more harm than good, just seemed crass
I think some industry sectors are recovering quicker than others, ie my friend with a long sales cycle in software has got buiser throughout as many companies needed enhanced system capabilities
Genuinely think opportunities springing up everywhere
Antony: resi is getting going again, need to catch up 10 lost weeks and sell again, Liz Media comms is key now for training and building brand trust, ie retailers, etc Elena: Many people are genuinely interested in how each country is re-opening, and CX is key now, so good thought leadership on this would be key
2. Target specific people – remember 7 degrees of separation – Use Anglian – get andy to intro you simple, but also engage as we talked
- ALSO Previous clients: Liz – How many people have you had through Linkedin last 3 years – reach back out to them
