4. The Big Dog: Cliff
Cliff is the original founding partner
and owner of Firedog. He enjoys
spanning all aspects of the agency
remit, both working with clients and
dabbling with the studio crayons.
Cliff says: “Self-discipline has to be very
high for this role – you could just spend all
day sitting on a golf course pretending
to be working...”

5. The Studio Team...
Meet the office team. Ranging from
accounts, PR, social media and the smooth
running of the Firedog studio, these roles
are heavily communication-based.
Let’s take a closer look at studio roles...

6. Hannah: Account Director
The Account Director is essentially the link between the
creative team and the client. As Firedog’s Account Director,
Hannah is the main client contact for projects coming through
the studio. She looks after some of the company’s operations
tasks, including new business, company processes and
finances.
Hannah says:
“In short, I spend half of my time planning and managing
projects, the other half of my day is spent with my head in
multi- coloured spreadsheets.”

7. Lucian: Account Manager
Despite managing his/her own clients, an
Account Manager’s accounts will ultimately be
overseen by the Account Director. Lucian is
responsible for managing a range of clients,
which involves much time spent on the
phone and in meetings.
Lucian says:
“ Working closely with the creative team
throughout the project is really rewarding,
especially when I’m able to add some ideas into
the mix.”

8. Cara: Studio Manager
An Office or Studio Manager ensures the smooth running
of the studio – she/he organises and supervises all
administrative activities. Cara looks after Cliff’s diary and
undertakes day-to-day admin like invoicing, purchasing
supplies, and arranging away days. She works three days a
week.
Cara says:
“A big advantage with this job is that you don’t take it home
with you ; it’s a stable job that allows some variety, without
being too stressful.”

9. Hannah: Social and Media Executive
Hannah is responsible for getting
the word out there regarding
Firedog projects. This involves
using social media platforms, cocoordinating the newsletter and
entering the agency for awards.
Hannah says:
“My favourite part of the role is all
the writing that’s involved. It’s
great to monitor which topics
interest people!”

10. The Designers...
Meet the designers. This side of the
studio is responsible for the creative
output and ranges from graphic design
and print to web development.

11. Lee : Design Director
Design Directors oversee the design
of branding and advertising for a
client, ensuring that this adheres to
the client’s requirements. Firedog’s
Design Director Lee is responsible for
the overall creative output in the
studio.
Lee says:
“I head up the creative team –
inspiring, motivating and harnessing
the teams’ creativity to ensure all our
work is as good as it can be.”

12. Sam: Digital Director
Digital Directors, or Heads of Digital must have in-depth
knowledge of interactive digital marketing, outside of media
planning or buying. As Firedog’s Digital Director, Sam is
responsible for all digital output of the studio. This might be
a new web build or a site re-fresh.

Sam says:

13. Ammar: Web Developer
In digital agencies, a Web
Developer is responsible for
the design, layout and coding
of a website – how the site
works and how it looks.
Ammar builds and maintains
the websites designed by Sam
or Lee.
Ammar says: “My worst
nightmare is Internet
Explorer...why does it make
everything so unnecessarily
complicated?!”

14. Ale: Junior Designer
A designer’s role covers a wide
spectrum of tasks. Firedog’s Junior
Designer Ale is involved in the studio’s
printed output – this includes posters
and books.
Ale says:
“I work closely with Lee both in pitching
for new brand identities and
developing existing ones. The best
part of my job is that every week is
different
to the next.”

15. Matt: Front End Web Developer
On a work placement with
Firedog, Matt mainly
supports the other web
developers fixing website
bugs and making small
changes for clients.
Matt says:
“My time is also spent
researching new plug-ins
and finding cool ways of
implementing customer
requirements.”

16. Michelle: Intern
Interning at Firedog, Michelle has
been working on bits of various
projects, such as the newsletter.
