2. INSECTS OF DESTRUCTION
Joel 1: 4: That which the palmerworm
hath left hath the locust eaten; and
that which the locust hath left hath
the cankerworm eaten; and that
which the cankerworm hath left hath
the caterpiller eaten.
3. The palmerworm, locust, cankerworm and
caterpiller are actually a reference to the
four growth stages of a locust from larvae to a
fully developed insect.
These four analogies represent the four empires
that conquered the ancient world: Babylon,
Persia, Greece and Rome. Each empire morphed
into the successive empire so that Rome
became the embodiment of Babylon, Persia
and Greece.
4. Joel 2: 25: And I will restore to you the years that
the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm,
and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my
great army which I sent among you.
The locust, cankerworm, caterpiller and
palmerworm are then referred to as being the
LORD’S great army; they are His servants
and were designed to bring judgment upon Israel
for rejecting His Word that came via the
prophets.
5. Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome
were the LORD’S servant empires
that were utilised specifically for
the persecution of the Jews after
they had rejected the Word of
the LORD
.
6. • These four empires ate down the fig tree
(Israel) so that it became the habitation
of foreigners (the Arabs etcetera).
But the LORD promised to restore the
Jews back into Israel, and He said
that He would quicken the dead and
desolated tree (Israel).
7. This promise came to pass on May
14, 1948, when Israel became an official
nation again in accordance with
Matthew 24: 32:
Now learn a parable of the fig tree;
When his branch is yet tender, and
putteth forth leaves, ye know that
summer is nigh:
8. The Jews’ Torah (the Old Testament) was
originally written in Hebrew and each letter of
the Hebrew alphabet has a numerical
value assigned to it. The sum value of each
Hebrew name in Joel 1: 4 has a remarkable
resemblance to the empires they represent, in
that the gematria (sum total) of each
Hebrew name equates to the number of years
that each empire ruled
supreme. Let us examine each Hebrew name to
clarify my statement.
9. “Gazam” (means in Hebrew,
“palmerworm”) has a gematria of 50.
588 BC (the Babylonians destroyed the
temple in Jerusalem, sacked the city and
took the Jews captive) to 538 BC (Persia
conquered Babylon) is 50 years.
10. “Arbeh” (means in Hebrew, “locust”) has
a gematria of 208.
538 BC (Persia conquered Babylon) to
330 BC (Greece conquered Persia) is
208 years.
“Yelequ” (means in Hebrew,
“cankerworm”) has a gematria of 140.
