The Role of Conservation Districts • Meet the needs of local landowners and communities • Use your Experience • Trusted relationships with landowners and Federal, State Agencies and other NGO’s • Strong Understanding of the Funding Process and Program requirements • History and knowledge of the local landscape and what else has/is taking place in the area. • Be Willing to Partner

Successful Partnerships = Successful Projects • Partnerships bring enhanced expertise to the project. • Results often include better projects that achieve multiple goals • Projects with multiple practices/goals produce greater operational and financial efficiencies for both the landowner and funding agencies. • Districts are uniquely positioned to streamline multiple projects into one resulting in simplicity for landowner.

Drainage Water Management-Bioreactor NRCS EQIP $15,000 (36%) DNREC CBIG $13,536 (32%) SCD Conservation Cost Share $13,536 (32%) • Bioreactor funded at 100% as landowner made significant financial contribution on the Field Tile Drainage portion of the project. • Local Cost Share used as match (1:1) for DNREC CBIG • District role allowed for creativity with funding and to look at the project as a whole.

New Opportunities for Conservation Districts • These types of partnerships put successful practices on the ground, often creating even more interest among others. • Successful partnerships are attractive to others and frequently results in additional funding and expertise being made available in your jurisdiction. • Confirms the Districts role as the local conservation leader in your community.
