This document summarizes Cristina Garmendia's presentation on asset management reform in the public sector. It outlines 4 main challenges governments face in asset management: 1) not knowing what they own, 2) not using data to inform decisions, 3) lack of communication between decision-makers, and 4) no clear mechanism for external collaboration. It then presents a taxonomy of proposed reforms, including privatization, third party management, technology integration, and management reform, to address these challenges. The goal of government asset management is to both minimize waste and increase efficiency, as well as maximize social and economic impact.
