The initial planning idea for a short film focused on creating a documentary about family and friends that was both visually beautiful and powerful to viewers. The filmmaker planned to shoot footage in Portugal during a three-week holiday, as it would provide beautiful scenery and cultural traditions different from an English lifestyle. They wanted the cinematography and hard-hitting message to appeal to a young adult/adult audience.
2. INFORMATION
Whilst doing my research tasks I always had in mind a type of genre which my short film will fall
in. I wanted to create a film which is both visually beautiful but also powering to viewers. I feel
that choosing a topic would be vital as the whole short would be based around this one topic.
The type of genre/topic I had in mind for my short film was a Documentary type film about
family/friends and life in general. At this point I want to keep my ideas open as at any given time
I could change my idea whilst doing more planning evidence.
The main aspects for my film are defiantly going to be Cinematography and a hard hitting
message. I knew that I was going on holiday for three weeks in Portugal which is my parents
home country, not only is it beautiful but also holds cultural value, everything there is
completely different; they have bright suns and traditions which could be filmed and used to
create that cinema look. Portugal is also very family driven and coming for a Portuguese
background I knew that I would be able to film at traditional Portuguese parties which will hold
multiple culture and traditional value and will contrast the English lifestyle that I life today.
Currently my audience for my short film would be young adults/adults, my message
throughout the short will be hard hitting and I knew that such a deep message will mean that a
younger audience might not understand the overall message of the short film.
