A follow-up study on the initial coin offerings (ICOs) from the class of 2017 indicates that 86% of these projects are trading below their listing price, with 30% losing almost all their value, resulting in a substantial average investment loss of 66%. Only 29% of the ICOs have developed working products, and many have started accepting traditional fiat currency, diminishing the value of their tokens. The analysis highlights a trend of diminishing investor confidence and points to regulatory challenges ahead that may shift funding sources toward more cautious investment entities.
