Purpose of my Informative Speech 
To inform my community about PTSD 
 My Family affected by this disorder. 
 How PTSD affects families: Military or Civilian 
 The face of PTSD relatively associated with 
military service members of war or war 
bound.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder- PTSD is a 
mental health condition that is triggered by a 
terrifying event, either experienced or 
witnessed. Symptoms may include flash 
backs, nightmares, severe anxiety, as well as 
uncontrollable thoughts about the event. 
Avoidance, can be one of the most dangerous 
parts of this disorder for the person with it 
because they don’t seek help and it gets 
worse.
 PTSD is a mental health condition that is 
triggered by a terrifying event, either experienced 
or witnessed. 
 Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares, 
severe anxiety, fits of rage or anger. They can 
interfere with ones ability to function daily. 
 PTSD symptoms are generally grouped into four 
types: intrusive memories, avoidance, negative 
changes in thinking and mood, or changes in 
emotional reactions.
 The person who has it, families, work 
relations and the community as a whole. 
 It is more identified today with Military 
service men and women due to serving in the 
military in war related areas of the world. 
 Everyday people can be diagnosed as well. 
People who have been sexually assaulted, 
domestic violence situations from an 
aggressor or child abuse situations.
 Negative changes in thinking or mood. 
 Changes in emotional reactions: Irritability, 
angry outbursts, or aggressive behavior. 
 Self-destructive behavior such as drinking 
too much. 
 Trouble sleeping or concentrating 
 Being easily startled or frightened 
 Suicidal
 Seek help when you are having disturbing 
thoughts, you feel your life is out of control, 
difficulty maintaining close relationships, 
hopelessness takes over, lack of interest in 
everyday activities, or depression as well as 
aggression begins to lead to damaging 
situations 
 Anxiety and fear becomes out of control.
 Jesus, and prayer first 
 Mental Health Care Professional or Health 
Care Professional. 
 Close friend or family member 
 A Minister or spiritual leader of Faith 
 Call Suicide Hotline: 1800-273-8255 to reach 
a trained counselor.

 This movie opened my understanding and it 
is a movie I truly enjoyed. It gave me a 
different perspective on how to in my case 
view my husband and realize its not his fault, 
problem is, he doesn’t recognize he has a 
problem.
