At first I am going to talk about what internet and internet of thing is and the evolution of internet of things Then I will talk about few current implementation of IOT in our world Lastly I will talk about current concerns and issues about IOT and the future prospects of IOT
- #4 I would like to start with a quotation from Kevin Ashton the pioneer of RFID chip technology. He stated that
- #5 Before talking about internet of things we should know what is internet. I think most of you already have quite good idea about internet. Basically, The Internet is the global system of interconnected computer networks that use the Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to link devices worldwide.
- #6 But we are talking about IOT. What's the main difference between Internet and internet of things?
- #7 So what those things can be?
- #8 So lets see how this IOT come to reality in our world and little bit of history of IOT. it’s quite new concept, because internet was also new that time. Any devices connected with RFID chip can
- #9 Now lets see types of IOT devices. IOT devices can be categorized into 4 groups.
- #10 IOT can be implemented in lots of domains, you name it and we can apply IOT on that domain. But currently we are focusing on this domain only.
- #12 At first lets talk about smart city, in a city where all the objects are connected to each other and shares data and take care of most of the works by themselves Citizen Data Sharing, Climate, Smart Street Lighting, smart parking, waste management, data management, data visualization We have already implemented few of the things and curranty implementing rest of it
- #13 Sometimes you see there's no car on the road but still you have to wait for green signal at night. Sometimes there are heavy traffic on any specific road for any kind of event. So we make the street light smarter and let them allow to communicate each other and take there decision accordingly and minimize the waiting time.
- #14 So garbage trucks come everyday in some places whatever the garbage bin is full or not. Now we make the garbage bins smarter so they can notify garbage truck when they are full.
- #15 To run the city we need electricity. But everyday we don’t need same amount of electricity. So we let the devices communicate each other so we produce enough power that we need.
- #16 Another implementation of IOT with artificial intelligence is Driverless car.
- #17 Another implementation of IOT is health tracker.
- #21 As its connecting all of our devices it raises up few issues like. • Security concern • Loss of employment • Legal and ethical issues
- #22 Although there are few ethical and moral problems Overall IOT is connecting every tool together to make a network so those tools can be controlled automatically or manually that makes our life easier and hassle free. IOT is already here and in some cases we are already using IOT and in some case we are still figuring out how to implement IOT. And we have yet lot to discover.
