South Africa Health System
South Africa has a healthcare system which is structured at different levels. There are clinics, community health centers, and hospitals. The first level in the hospital structures are the clinics which treat the common needs of the people. It is these clinics that will refer someone further to the hospitals when one needs the further treatment. The clinics are either satellite or mobile clinics which are run by primary healthcare nurses. The community health centers are larger than the clinics and they have both nurses and doctors taking care of the patients. The last level of healthcare facilities are hospitals. The hospitals are for surgery, serious illnesses or emergency treatment that cannot be handled at the clinic levels. An individual can only go to the hospitals if they are referred by doctors in the clinics or in the case of an emergency. Basic healthcare is provided for free by the government through the healthcare services at the provincial level (Masquillier et al., 2015). There is also private healthcare insurance and those who get it receive tax benefits.
There are several gaps that are present in the healthcare gaps in South Africa that have contributed to the rapid spread of the HIV pandemic. South Africa has one of the highest HIV epidemics in the world with over seven million people living with it (Masquillier et al., 2015). The spread of HIV has been caused by gaps which are there in dealing with healthcare awareness for marginalized groups. There are several demographics who do not get the sexual health care that they need such as sex workers, transgender women, gay men, as well as those who inject themselves with various drugs. The second gap that is there is lack of sufficient funds to get people to test for HIV. There is also lack of sufficient facilities to serve poor populations especially in slums to give them access to critical drugs such as ARVs. The healthcare system does not have sufficient capacity to deal with nutritional issues.
One strategy that can be used to deal with the HIV/AIDs issue in South Africa is raising of public awareness through door to door campaigns especially in the slum areas. It is important for everyone to understand the importance of HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention. The local community needs also to realize that it is not good to have stigmatization of the minority groups such as gay men who do not get the healthcare which they deserve. The slum population in India is mushrooming at an alarming rate. Economic deprivation and social and
physical decay in these slums are leading to a formidable increase in health problems. The most severely
affected are the young children in these slum clusters as they are exposed to harsh living standards. The
study was conducted in the Kishangarh slum in South-West Delhi in November 2018 during a health camp
conducted by an NGO (Non-Governmental Organisation) in Kishangarh. 469 children attended the health
camp. The collected data was recorded in pretested questionnaires and entered into Microsoft Excel 2007
and Google Spreadsheet.

Just as we need other infrastructure such as roadways, power grids, water supply or other fundamental services necessary for our society to function well, we need to have a network of public health "infrastructure" to form the base of our public health services. Franklin Delano Roosevelt stated: "The success or failure of any government in the final analysis must be measured by the well-being of its citizens. Nothing can be more important to a state than its public health; the state's paramount concern should be the health of its people".
In the United States, governments at all levels (federal, state, and local) have a specific responsibility to strive to create the conditions in which people can be as healthy as possible.

Just like we need an efficient transport infrastructure to facilitate a seamless movement within and outside a given place, efficient health infrastructure is what ensures the nation is healthy. According to Healthy People 2020, the goal of having an efficient Public health infrastructure is ensuring that the federal, state, tribal, territorial, and local health agencies have the necessary infrastructure to provide essential public health services efficiently. With a sufficient public health infrastructure, communities, states, and the nation at large will have the ability to prevent disease, promote health, and prepare for and respond to both acute- emergency threats and chronic- ongoing challenges to health. According to Healthy People 2020, an excellent public health infrastructure depends on a wide range of processes such as immunizations, infectious disease monitoring, quality drinking water, injury prevention, up-to-date information systems, and public health organizations with the ability to assess and respond to community needs.
Looking at the U.S public health infrastructure and some of the key characteristics that would define a robust infrastructure, I do not think our infrastructure is solid enough. Our health care system has been described by a wide range of literature as the most expensive in the world but has a poor quality and safety record compared to other developed nations (Squires & Anderson, 2015). Secondly, looking at the major disease burden affecting the healthcare system, I would say that our infrastructure has been focused more on profit maximization. Most of these conditions are preventable. I cannot understand why an important medication such as insulin for over 30 million diabetic Americans is still a patented product and sold by a few companies. In an article by Belluz, the inventors of insulin thought it was unethical to patent a life saving drug and sold it to university of Toronto for $ 1. However, if the investors were alive today, they would be shocked to death to realize that the price of insulin has been on an upward trajectory and some patients have to forego their injection because of the.

physical decay in these slums are leading to a formidable increase in health problems. The most severely
affected are the young children in these slum clusters as they are exposed to harsh living standards. The
study was conducted in the Kishangarh slum in South-West Delhi in November 2018 during a health camp
conducted by an NGO (Non-Governmental Organisation) in Kishangarh. 469 children attended the health
camp. The collected data was recorded in pretested questionnaires and entered into Microsoft Excel 2007
and Google Spreadsheet.

Just as we need other infrastructure such as roadways, power grids, water supply or other fundamental services necessary for our society to function well, we need to have a network of public health "infrastructure" to form the base of our public health services. Franklin Delano Roosevelt stated: "The success or failure of any government in the final analysis must be measured by the well-being of its citizens. Nothing can be more important to a state than its public health; the state's paramount concern should be the health of its people".
In the United States, governments at all levels (federal, state, and local) have a specific responsibility to strive to create the conditions in which people can be as healthy as possible.

Just like we need an efficient transport infrastructure to facilitate a seamless movement within and outside a given place, efficient health infrastructure is what ensures the nation is healthy. According to Healthy People 2020, the goal of having an efficient Public health infrastructure is ensuring that the federal, state, tribal, territorial, and local health agencies have the necessary infrastructure to provide essential public health services efficiently. With a sufficient public health infrastructure, communities, states, and the nation at large will have the ability to prevent disease, promote health, and prepare for and respond to both acute- emergency threats and chronic- ongoing challenges to health. According to Healthy People 2020, an excellent public health infrastructure depends on a wide range of processes such as immunizations, infectious disease monitoring, quality drinking water, injury prevention, up-to-date information systems, and public health organizations with the ability to assess and respond to community needs.
Looking at the U.S public health infrastructure and some of the key characteristics that would define a robust infrastructure, I do not think our infrastructure is solid enough. Our health care system has been described by a wide range of literature as the most expensive in the world but has a poor quality and safety record compared to other developed nations (Squires & Anderson, 2015). Secondly, looking at the major disease burden affecting the healthcare system, I would say that our infrastructure has been focused more on profit maximization. Most of these conditions are preventable. I cannot understand why an important medication such as insulin for over 30 million diabetic Americans is still a patented product and sold by a few companies. In an article by Belluz, the inventors of insulin thought it was unethical to patent a life saving drug and sold it to university of Toronto for $ 1. However, if the investors were alive today, they would be shocked to death to realize that the price of insulin has been on an upward trajectory and some patients have to forego their injection because of the.

PGx Analysis in VarSeq: A User’s Perspective
Since our release of the PGx capabilities in VarSeq, we’ve had a few months to gather some insights from various use cases. Some users approach PGx workflows by means of array genotyping or what seems to be a growing trend of adding the star allele calling to the existing NGS pipeline for whole genome data. Luckily, both approaches are supported with the VarSeq software platform. The genotyping method being used will also dictate what the scope of the tertiary analysis will be. For example, are your PGx reports a standalone pipeline or would your lab’s goal be to handle a dual-purpose workflow and report on PGx + Diagnostic findings.

Discuss and demonstrate the approaches with array and NGS genotyping methods for star allele calling to prep for downstream analysis.
Following genotyping, explore alternative tertiary workflow concepts in VarSeq to handle PGx reporting.

- 2. This web talks about the problems in India’s slums. The 1st problem is the water problem. Everybody who lives in slums has no access to clean water, that’s why everyone travels about 2 to 3 kilometers a day, just to get the cleanest water they could possibly get. Due to lack of access to clean water people get affected with water borne diseases. The 2nd problem is about rubbish due to unclean conditions. Dust of the rubbish that goes into people’s body and they get respiratory diseases. Because of dirty conditions people get bitten by mosquitoes and get infected. When we get dengue we are lucky, we can get medical help but when it happens to people in slums they can do a very little about it. The last problem is the lack of availability of toilets. Almost 30% people who live in slums have no access to toilets, so they use places like drains, rivers, grasslands, roadsides as a toilet which spreads diseases.
