The Neighbourhood Association "El Torcal" works with the local community in Malaga, Spain to promote inclusion and respond to challenges like unemployment, diversity, and exclusion. Volunteers ages 18-30 will assist teachers and participate in association activities to support social groups, working on topics like human rights, gender equality, and intercultural exchange. The association provides accommodation, a living stipend, and insurance for volunteers.

2. About the project
The main objective of the Neighbourhood Association is to work with the local
people to try to build a more inclusive society, supporting vulnerable people and
responding to the social challenges they face every day: cultural diversity,
unemployment, lack of social involvement, social exclusion, promotion of sports,
gender equality, care of environment, etc.
The volunteers will work on various topics, in the morning the main activity will be
assisting teachers in the schools in the area and in the afternoon you will
collaborate in the activities that the association has to support social collectives.

4. What we do in the
project
During the semesters, we help the teachers prepare the class, we make
activities that promote human rights, gender equality, intercultural
exchange, nonviolent communication, social skills, etc.
During summer we organize summer camps for the children from all
ages in El Torcal neighbourhood.
Volunteers are also taking part in the activities in the association. For
example football trainings, english classes, salsa classes, intercultural,
events, handcraft workshop, promoting volunteering and ESC
programs, etc.
We are open to volunteers´ new ideas.

about A.VV. El Torcal
The El Torcal neighbourhood association was founded in 1987, currently has
more than 350 families as members, all belonging to our neighbourhood and
other parts of Málaga city.
The association is located in one of the areas with the highest population density
with great problems of unemployment, low educational level, immigrants and
risk of social exclusion.
We promote activities that facilitate their personal development and produce a
positive social change.

9. Covid-19 measures
Due to Covid-19 some activities may be changed,
depending on the restrictions and organization

Currently in Spain face masks are obligatory in
indoor public spaces and outside if it's crowded and
social distancing cannot be observed.
