INTRODUCTION
The Industrial Revolution was the transition to new manufacturing
processes in the period from between 1760 to 1820 and 1840.
This transition included going from hand production
methods to machines, new chemical manufacturing and iron
production processes, the increasing use of steam power and water
power, the development of machine tools and the rise of
power, the development of machine tools and the rise of
the mechanized factory system.
The Industrial Revolution began in the 18th century, when agricultural
societies became more industrialized and urban. The transcontinental
railroad, the cotton gin, electricity and other inventions permanently
changed society.
Industry 1.0 – The Industrial Revolution
It all began with the first industrial revolution, or what most historians
refer to as simply “The Industrial Revolution.”
This was when the primary means of manufacturing moved from
manpower to machine power.
Fuel sources like steam and coal made machine-use more feasible, and
the idea of manufacturing with machines quickly spread.
the idea of manufacturing with machines quickly spread.
Machines allowed faster and easier production, and they made all kinds
of new innovations and technologies possible as well.
Industry 2.0 – The Technological Revolution
The first Industrial Revolution represented the period between
the 1760s and around 1840.
This is where the second industrial revolution picked up.
Historians sometimes refer to this as “The Technological
Revolution,” where superior electrical technology allowed even
greater production and more sophisticated machines.
greater production and more sophisticated machines.
Industry 3.0 – The Digital Revolution
Although we usually don’t think of the 1950s as the period in which our
world became digital, it was here where the digital revolution began
with the first computers.
These early computers were often very simple, unwieldy and incredibly
large relative to the computing power they were able to provide, but
they laid the groundwork for a world today that one is hard-pressed to
they laid the groundwork for a world today that one is hard-pressed to
imagine without computer technology.
Industry 4.0 – The Automation Revolution
Proponents of Industry 4.0 refer to the concept in terms akin to the
smart home — a network of “smart factories,” so to speak. In a smart
home, the various luxuries and security features of a modern day
residence — lights, appliances, alarms, clocks — are enhanced with
digital capabilities, such as sensing, scanning, programming memory
and voice and facial recognition.
Cyber-physical system — a mechanical device that is run by
computer-based algorithms.
The Internet of things (IoT) — interconnected networks of
machine devices and vehicles embedded with computerized
sensing, scanning and monitoring capabilities.
Cloud computing — offsite network hosting and data backup.
Cognitive computing — technological platforms that employ
artificial intelligence.
artificial intelligence.
Industry 5.0 – The Personalizable (HMI) Revolution
The term Industry 5.0 refers to people working alongside robots and
smart machines.
It’s about robots helping humans work better and faster by leveraging
advanced technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT) and big data.
It adds a personal human touch to the Industry 4.0 pillars of
automation and efficiency.
automation and efficiency.
Industry 5.0 – The Personalizable (HMI) Revolution
3 Essential Facts About Industry 5.0
Industry 5.0 is aimed at supporting – not superseding –
humans.
Industry 5.0 is about finding the optimal balance of
efficiency and productivity.
The progress of Industry 5.0 is unavoidable.
Impact of INDUSTRY 5.0
Projects realized in line with INDUSTRY 5.0 ad INDUSTRIAL
UPCYCLING proposition confirms affect to many areas, most notably:
 1. Services and business models
 2. Profitability of business
 3. Reliability and continuous increase of efficient productivity
 4. IT security
 4. IT security
 5. Machine and Human safety
 6. Product lifecycles increase
 7. Industry value chain environemntal impact decrease
 8. Workers’ education, skills and involvement increase
 9. Socio-economic factors improvement
Benefits of Industry 5.0
Industry 5.0 takes over past improvements that, since the First
Industrial Revolution, have generated more effective processes.
The search for business models that use the least resources to obtain
the highest profits find in factory 5.0 their highest level of perfection to
date, since man and machine work together to make the best financial
decisions for a company i.e) Cost optimization.
