of Boilers.

In transpek all boilers are fuel based boilers to
fulfil the demand of Hot Oil and high Tempreture
Steam.
Generally 4 TPH to 8 TPH capacity steam is
generated in transpek,
In Transpek pressure of steam required is 4.2
kg/cm2, pressure in the boiler can be regulated
upto 10.5 kg/cm2 if required.
Manufacturing processes.
•In this vessel water is
heated at boiling point
(100o C) to obtain
steam, this steam is
pressurised in vessel to
obtain high temperature
steam (150o C)
•This boiler are
comprises of mounting
& accessories, which
are installed for safety
and higher efficiency.
Manufacturing processes.
 Specification

of cooling tower.

•

In the cooling tower temperature
difference obtain is of 2o to 5o C

•

In this hot water vapour is removed from
top of tower with help of induced fan.
While more cooling can be done by
modification in design and refrigerant.
Manufacturing processes.

As shown in figure above, in Induced draft cooling tower there
is induced fan at top of tower, which is design in a manner to
suck up air from inside the tower and throw it out, while on
tower body fins are provided, such that it can allow passage for
air to flow in tower, water used as refrigerant is constantly
poured from top of tower.
Problem Identification.
In Transpek, as it is an chemical based
plant, the whole manufacturing practice
are done with chemical, different
hazardious, toxic gas or liquid are
manufactured here.
 This chemical are also corrosive which
lead the corrosion in plant site,
Equipments like metal pipes, metal
vessel or storage vessels are also
corroded.

Problem Identification.


Problem: 1



To prevent corrosion routine and schedule
maintenance work are carried out, in
Transpek.
while its is continues working plant, mostly
corroded pipes or vessels are replaced
because its more economical then shut down.
Thus replaced of this pipe line, or creating new
network of pipe line in plant create an rumble.




Problem Identification.

•Such type of unwanted pipe line network creates
an Mesh, and leads to confusion.
•This mesh may create problem at time of critical
situation like accidents and maintenance.
Problem Identification.


So to avoid this confusing network of
pipe line in plant, an suitable
maintenance scheme should be adopted
in which there should be an removal of
unwanted pipe line should be done.
Problem Identification.


Problem : 2



The problem of corrosion is also an
major issue in chemical plant, mostly in
transpek ,metal pipe, metal storage
vessel are corroded due conduction and
storage of corrosive chemical.
Problem Identification.
Solution to the Defined Problem.


Our little research on Engineering material,
suggest that rather than the use of metal in pipe
line, vessel or storage container, the use of
material FRP ( FIBRE REINFORCED PLASTIC ).



Its is unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins.
The main fundamental of this material is This
versatile polymer materials immediately found
acceptance in aerospace, construction,
transportation, the infrastructure, and industrial
process equipment, where their unique properties
brought value and new solutions to the practicing
engineer.
Solution to the Defined Problem.


Because of its superb corrosion resistant
properties, composite fiber reinforced plastic
(FRP) has displaced other more costly metals
in many industrial process equipment, e.g.
tanks, piping, duct and hood systems, reaction
vessels, etc.



This material is highly Ductile, this material
can duct concentrated acid easily, its is also
resistive to high tempreture, and it is quit
cheaper to install, thus it can be consider as
the future of material Engineering.
Solution to the Defined Problem.


Many other properties of FRP is light in weight, easy
is transpotable, and can resist any temperature, as
the plant of Transpek is situated in south eastern
Gujarat, it was moderate tempreture and atmosphere
condition, so use of FRP is advicable.



The main factor of this material is that it can be used
in any practice like piping, underground piping,
vessels, storage tank, etc.



Another option of choice than FRP is fibre ciremic
coating in pipes, which is also resistive to corrosion
and also duct concentrated acid.
Fiber Reinforced Plastic.


Advantages:

•

High strength
Resistance to corrosion
Fast & easy installation
Composites cost less than stainless or
high-carbon alloy steel components that
might be used in highly corrosive
environments.
FRP can conduct concentrated acids.
Easily mouldable. And Durable.

•
•
•

•
•
Fiber Reinforced Plastic.
Fiber Reinforced Plastic.



Disadvantages:

At high temperatures the material's
strength decreases and deflection
increases.
 These materials continue deflecting under
heavy, sustained loads (creep).
 Can not handle high pressurized fluid.
Limitations in Implementing the Solution.


Thus FRP being very versatile
conducting material can not be used in
boiler pipes.



FRP can only be restricted in utilization
for conducting acids or any other fluid.
Conclusion.


The use of best maintenance scheme, is
very essential for avoid any mesh
pipeline network.



The use of FRP (Fiber Reinforced
Plastic) is more appropriate than metal
pipes.
