- 1. 1 SCENE 1: ETX - FIELD - MID DAY We hear a camera’s shutter go off. There’s a close up of JAMES sitting at the top of the hill, casually taking pictures of birds. He’s waiting for a hawk to fly down. JAMES They’re so majestic, they live with the wind under their wings - Freedom to live as they wish. JAMES sits back, and watches a bird fly over. We hear a voice over.It’s from the perspective of the camera, as if it too was a real person talking back to the audience - recounting it’s dreams and hopes, the things it wishes it could say to JAMES. (V.O) To pass the time, I dream of long walks on the beach with you at sunset. JAMES puts the camera away from this face and we’re show his face for the first time. He flicks through photos of birds. We hear the clicks of the camera buttons. JAMES Damn, that’s a good one, a little blurry but still... I like it. JAMES continues flicking through photos. When he’s done he begins to adjust his camera settings. (V.O) It’s a picturesque scene and you know just how to handle me. In the background we can hear some shouting. It’s very muffled. JAMES pays no attention to it. Instead he’s still looking at his camera. JAMES looks up from his camera,He leans forwards, trying to see further into the distance. JAMES What’s going on? The shouting gets louder. JAMES’ curiosity increases as he tunes into the conversation. V.O: Those fleeting moments that pass in an instant can live forever with my help. The shouting becomes clearer. JAMES looks curious and slightly panicked. We hear what is being said... MIKE (MORE) (CONTINUED)
- 2. CONTINUED: 2. please Wait, wait, please.. FLYN No, no no. I waited for you. Let’s finish this. JAMES notices a glint of silver being pulled out of FLYN’s pocket. JAMES Is that a knife...? What..?? V.O: Use me, fill me up with memories. A single click and I’ll freeze time for you. JAMES picks up the camera, his face once again blocked by the camera. He zooms into something in the distance using the camera. SFX: Camera zooming in. CAMERA MOVES TO THE CENTRE OF HIS FACE JAMES Oh shhhh....
