The students felt it was important to appreciate the public servants who work hard to keep society running smoothly. They decided to raise funds by collecting and selling old newspapers. With the money, they bought roses, cards, water glasses and pens to give as small gifts while thanking police, traffic police, taxi drivers, auto drivers and doctors during their work. Their goal was to encourage these workers and bring a smile to their faces to recognize their important contributions. They were able to successfully implement their plan and shared their positive experience with others.

Samad Arshad was an engineer for the Cambridge Development Initiative (CDI) in Tanzania. CDI is a student society that plans projects in engineering, education, health and entrepreneurship to empower communities in Tanzania. As the engineer, Samad helped expand simplified sewerage infrastructure to connect 11 additional houses. He faced challenges gaining community buy-in for financial management of expansion projects. Samad also spent time with CDI's education group and helped complete the sewer network expansion before returning to Cambridge. The experience improved his confidence and reinforced his interest in international development.

Organizer Kristina aims to help disadvantaged families in her community gain computer literacy and skills. She has begun by inviting children from low-income families to her home to teach them basic computer operations and programs like Word and PowerPoint. The children are also learning to use the internet to research topics that interest them. Kristina's goals are to continue teaching the two girls she started with and encourage other neighborhood children to learn computers. With their help, she plans to grow the number of youth with technology skills in her community.

Students at Ryan International School organized a literacy program to teach illiterate maids at their school to read basic Hindi words. They initially faced reluctance from the maids who thought they were too old to learn, but were able to convince them to participate. Over the course of a week, the students held classes for the maids after school and saw improvements in their reading abilities. Both the students and maids found the program rewarding and decided to continue it, with more interested in joining. The school principal and a parent praised the initiative for empowering those taught and taking the first steps toward societal change.

The students of New Little Scholars High School in Hyderabad chose to address the issue of plastic use in their village. They organized a rally to educate the community about the harms of plastic and encourage the use of paper bags instead. The students taught women in the village to make paper bags, then worked to establish partnerships where the women could sell their bags to local shops. This created a small business for the women while reducing plastic use. Both the women and local leaders were pleased with the positive impact the students' project had on the environment and community.

The NGO aims to raise awareness on social and environmental issues while supporting other organizations through fundraising events showcasing underprivileged children's talents.
Dfc mission literacy
Jamnabai Narsee School students started a "Mission Literacy" campaign to address the problem of illiteracy. They collected books and educational materials to donate to less fortunate schools and an SOS village. The students created posters and pamphlets, wore campaign t-shirts, and gave presentations to spread awareness about the importance of education and their right to it. They visited other schools to encourage students to donate spare materials and help promote literacy.

The Samudayik Vikas Samiti (SVS) is an NGO established in 1999 to work for the development and welfare of poor and marginalized communities.
