WHAT IS
 A sloping ramp up which heavy loads can be
raised by ropes or chains
OR
A plane inclined at an angle to the horizontal
 Ramps
 Sloping roads and hills
 Stairs
 An inclined plane is any slope or ramp, like a
wheelchair ramp or a slide. The ramp makes it
easier to lift something heavy, like a rock.
Instead of lifting the rock straight up, you can
push it a greater distance, but with less force.
The amount of work remains the same
 Work done = Force X Distance
W = F X S
If we increase the size of the inclined plane, that
reduces the angle of the ramp and force required
to pull the object will be less.
