2. Sherlock
This is a screengrab from the TV
drama Sherlock. As you can see,
the two shots look very similar:
silhouettes are used when walking
towards the camera which creates a
sense of mystery because the face
cannot be seen.
We used a silhouette as one of the
first shots in our opening title
sequence and it first introduces the
character to the audience. The
silhouette gives a sinister and
menacing vision of the man.
3. The Shining and Inglorious Bastards
In our opening title sequence, we used a
baseball bat as a weapon, which has been
showcased in previous thrillers, such as
The Shining and Inglorious Bastards.
4. The Bourne Identity and Casino Royale
We used a stairwell in our opening
title sequence, which reflects other
thrillers such as The Bourne
Identity and Casino Royale. Even
though those stairwell sequences
involve a fight scene, the stairs
help the sequence get good
looking shots and help create
suspense in the scene.
5. American Horror Story
For the title of our film, we stuck to a
black background with white writing
that looks very simple but effective.
This has been used in many different
thrillers, but I have used the example of
American Horror Story because it has
used a font that is easily recognisable
and is used as the logo for the film. We
would use the same font (Copperplate)
throughout our marketing campaign to
create a brand for our film.
