Hello Area 1 Community Members!
I would like to say “Thank You” for
participating in our Independence Day
Celebration July 4th at Camp Casey. What
a change from last year where you stood
fast during the “on and off” again rains, this
year we had bright beautiful sunny skies and
though at times it was quite warm, the smiles
on your faces and your laughter could be
heard throughout the event site. From food eating contest, Warrior’s
Got Talent show, games, rides, entertainment, food and beverage there was so much to offer, so much fun and what more could one say except “WOW” when the fireworks capped off a perfect day.
Area 1 has a lot going on in August check out some of our favorites:
Commander's Cup Video Challenge at all Area I CACs, CRC BOSS "Hoop it UP", Commander's Cup Intramural Golf at Casey and CRC, DMZ Trips with sign ups at Area I CACs, Family Rail Bike Trip to Gangchon, Comedy Show at Gateway, CYSS Open House, you can find all these and more in the August ITZ magazine, “Happy Reading!”

Hello USAG Red Cloud and Area I
Community Members!
Can you believe it we are nearing the end
of the year already; time flew by so fast, and
soon it will be Christmas and then New Years
Eve! It’s a very special time of the year to
spend with family and friends.
Unfortunately, this may not be the case
with some of our Area I members. As much
as it is a glorious time of the year, this season
can be a very difficult time for many of our
unaccompanied Soldiers and Families far from home. Please be vigilant
and watch for lonely and/or depressed symptoms, and reach out to your
Battle Buddies; invite them into your home or get them involved in Unit
or FMWR activities at the clubs, bowling centers, CACs or ACS. The Army
is one big family and we need to take care of our own, so open your
hearts and homes to your extended family here in Area I.

Digital Commerce Lecture for Advanced Digital & Social Media Strategy at UCLA...Valters Lauzums
E-commerce in 2024 is characterized by a dynamic blend of opportunities and significant challenges. Supply chain disruptions and inventory shortages are critical issues, leading to increased shipping delays and rising costs, which impact timely delivery and squeeze profit margins. Efficient logistics management is essential, yet it is often hampered by these external factors. Payment processing, while needing to ensure security and user convenience, grapples with preventing fraud and integrating diverse payment methods, adding another layer of complexity. Furthermore, fulfillment operations require a streamlined approach to handle volume spikes and maintain accuracy in order picking, packing, and shipping, all while meeting customers' heightened expectations for faster delivery times.
Amid these operational challenges, customer data has emerged as an important strategy. By focusing on personalization and enhancing customer experience from historical behavior, businesses can deliver improved website and brand experienced, better product recommendations, optimal promotions, and content to meet individual preferences. Better data analytics can also help in effectively creating marketing campaigns, improving customer retention, and driving product development and inventory management.
Innovative formats such as social commerce and live shopping are beginning to impact the digital commerce landscape, offering new ways to engage with customers and drive sales, and may provide opportunity for brands that have been priced out or seen a downturn with post-pandemic shopping behavior. Social commerce integrates shopping experiences directly into social media platforms, tapping into the massive user bases of these networks to increase reach and engagement. Live shopping, on the other hand, combines entertainment and real-time interaction, providing a dynamic platform for showcasing products and encouraging immediate purchases. These innovations not only enhance customer engagement but also provide valuable data for businesses to refine their strategies and deliver superior shopping experiences.
The e-commerce sector is evolving rapidly, and businesses that effectively manage operational challenges and implement innovative strategies are best positioned for long-term success.

Search Engine Marketing - Competitor and Keyword researchETMARK ACADEMY
Over 2 Trillion searches are made per day in Google search, which means there are more than 2 Trillion visits happening across the websites of the world wide web.
People search various questions, phrases or words. But some words and phrases are searched
more often than others.
For example, the words, ‘running shoes’ are searched more often than ‘best road running
shoes for men’
These words or phrases which people use to search on Google are called Keywords.
Some keywords are searched more often than others. Number of times a keyword is searched
for in a month is called keyword volume.
Some keywords have more relevant results than others. For the phrase “running shoes” we
get more than 80M relevant results, whereas for “best road running shoes for men” we get
only 8.
The former keyword ‘running shoes’ has way more competition from popular websites to
new and small blogs, whereas the latter keyword doesn’t have that much competition. This
search competition for a keyword is called search difficulty of a keyword or keyword
difficulty.
In other words, if the keyword difficulty is ‘low’ or ‘easy’, there won’t be any competition
and if you target such keywords on your site, you can easily rank on the front page of Google.
Some keywords are searched for, just to know or to learn some information about something,
that’s their search intention. For example, “What shoe size should I choose?” or “How to pick
the right shoe size?”
These keywords which are searched just to know about stuff are called informational
keywords. Typically people who are searching this type of keywords are top of a Conversion
funnel.
Conversion funnel is the journey that search visitors go through on their way to an email
subscription or a premium subscription to the services you offer or a purchase of products
you sell or recommend using your referral link.
For some buyers, research is the most important part when they have to buy a product.
Depending on that, their journey either widens or narrows down. These types of buyers are
Researchers and they spend more time with informational keywords.
Conversion is the action you want from your search visitors. Number of conversions that you
get for every 100 search visitors is called Conversion rate.
People who are at different stages of a conversion funnel use different types of keywords.
When most people in the industry talk about online or digital reputation management, what they're really saying is Google search and PPC. And it's usually reactive, left dealing with the aftermath of negative information published somewhere online. That's outdated. It leaves executives, organizations and other high-profile individuals at a high risk of a digital reputation attack that spans channels and tactics. But the tools needed to safeguard against an attack are more cybersecurity-oriented than most marketing and communications professionals can manage. Business leaders Leaders grasp the importance; 83% of executives place reputation in their top five areas of risk, yet only 23% are confident in their ability to address it. To succeed in 2024 and beyond, you need to turn online reputation on its axis and think like an attacker.
Key Takeaways:
- New framework for examining and safeguarding an online reputation
- Tools and techniques to keep you a step ahead
- Practical examples that demonstrate when to act, how to act and how to recover

10. Family & MWR Manager Spotlight
MIKE SO
Story by Larissa Krenzer
USAG-RC Family and Morale, Welfare & Recreation (FMWR),
welcomes the newest member of the team, Warrior’s Club
Manager, Michael So. So has an extensive background working
as a Restaurant and Bar Manager for worldwide-known hotels
in Las Vegas such as the Cosmopolitan, Vdara and The Bellagio
Hotel and Resort. He also worked at the Beverly Hills Hilton
where he was part of the team that hosted the Golden Globes
HBO party. His experience has also led him to work in Japan and
in Korea, where he was a part of the opening team for the 37th
Bar and Grill at the Conrad Seoul Hotel.
Although his past experience was within the private
sector, he is no stranger to the US Army or to Korea.
So was born at the 121 Brian Allgood Community
Hospital and attended the Soul American School
system from elementary through high school.
“I know the whole reason MWR exists is to
support the troops, and I intend to keep
doing that through the Warrior’s Club and
the products and services that we provide.”
He said.
The Warrior’s Club has been a standard
on Camp Casey for food and hosting
events, and with So’s vision, he hopes to
create a better club for the future. “I want
to change things around, creating a more
comfortable place for our customers to
come relax and just chill out rather than
going off base.” So said enthusiastically. He
is definitely interested in providing Soldiers
and families a local option where they can feel
at home and still enjoy themselves.
“If we can create a place that they feel safe and
10 USAG Red Cloud - Casey and Area I Family and MWR Magazine
Feature Article
11. comfortable, and provide products that they are
accustomed to from the states, then our customers
don’t have to travel far to Seoul or Itaewon. I believe
we can establish a new hangout spot here for these
guys,” he added.
Redwood Dining inside Warrior’s Club offers daily
lunch buffet specials to include Oriental, Italian, Soul
Food and more. The cook staff works hard every
day to prepare delicious food from scratch, but So
strives to add a variety within the options that Area
1 Soldiers and family members already love. “I ask
customers randomly what they like to eat, how they
like their food prepared, what they would like us to
offer or change,” he said.
“With that information, I work with our chefs to
incorporate new recipes with the ingredients we
already have, so that there is more variety and it’s
not always spaghetti and meatballs for Italian for
example.”
His vision does not stop there, So wants to add
more vibrancy to Nap’s by turning it into a sports bar
environment, that is a fun yet comfortable place to
eat and hangout. As for Hot Stuff pizza which already
has a following at Camp Casey, So affirmed that he
would like to incorporate new flavors that add variety
and a Korean flair. “I would like to do something
different to products that we are used to, and I think
we can make some sort of marriage between the
Korean and American pizza,” he added with a smile.
Aside from all that the Warrior’s Club has to offer
on a day to day basis, So and his team also schedule
special events for Soldiers and family members.
Among some of the upcoming events include ‘After
Parties’ for the 2014 Warrior Country Rising Star
competition. On October 3rd after the Semi-Final
Round there will be an '80s Hits Remix’ themed event
that is sure to be amazing, and on the Final Round of
the competition on October 10th, the Warrior’s Club
will host an ‘Urban Hits’ themed party to close the
evening’s festivities. Don’t forget that the Holiday
Seasons are fast approaching, so come in and book
your Unit Parties with us to ensure you have a place
to celebrate!
With all the new changes and events that are
coming to the Warrior’s Club, So hopes Soldiers and
family members across the Area 1 Community will like
what he and the rest of the MWR team have in store.
"At the end of the day, it’s all about the taste, product
and experience. I think were headed in the right
direction, the guests so far have come out happy and
I intend to keep doing that.”
FUTURE PLANS
FOR WARRIOR’S CLUB
In our effort to provide new programs and
services, we are introducing club changes and
adjusted hours into 3 phases:
1st Phase October 2014 – We’ll begin
Gateway (Primo’s Pizza) Delivery Service, Friday
& Saturday Nite DJ entertainment at NAPS
Restaurant and Pub, with food specials!
2nd Phase November 2014 – We’ll offer
“Friday Night Dinner Buffet” with a new and/or
improved weekly dinner special, and our team
members will also be premiering their new
uniforms as well. Weekly dinner operations
Monday-Thursday & Saturday will no longer
be available, however, each Friday will feature
Friday Dinner with our new Weekly Buffet
Specials.
3rd Phase December 2014 – We’ll present
a revamped lunch program with our new “A
la Carte Menu” to include Healthy Choice
Selections and our Lunch Buffet with a new
concept----an ‘action station’ cooking your
freshly selected ingredients and delivering
a flavorful meal for you while you wait!
December will also feature the revitalization of
your Area I Brunch program.
“I look forward to meeting you at Warrior’s,
and while you’re there; ask for me if you don’t
see me on the floor, and tell me about your
experience, and/or any ideas that you think
might be nice to have!” - Mike So

September 23, 2014 - March 31, 2015

forgotten our Gateway delivery customers, and made arrangements to move pizza delivery service to Warrior's Club

30. Comfort, Convenience and Value
The Casey Lodge Experience
“Serving Those Who Serve”
Looking for an affordable and pleasant place to stay
during your visit to Area 1? Look no further, the Casey
Lodge has just the right room for you. This newly
renovated facility has over 107, fully furnished units
priced just right for either single travelers or families
who are planning to visit the Dongducheon area. If
you haven’t been there lately, you might want to check
the recent upgrades.
“We’ve spent over $226,000 this year to renovate
mattresses, TVs, furniture and other amenities in order
to provide value and a comfortable, quality night stay
for our customers,” says Ms. Constance Roderick,
Casey Lodge General Manager. “Gone are the dreary,
worn draperies and appliances; replaced with a better
room layout, complete with amenities and services
that will further enhance the convenience of staying
on-post,” she proudly added.
A customer staying at the lodge can expect services
that include, but are not limited to: complimentary
breakfast, free wireless internet and a dedicated front
desk staff to help you with local directions, things
to do and places to visit during your stay in Area 1.
As for convenience, the Casey Lodge is at an ideal
location, within 5 minutes or less walking distance from
the main gate, AAFES PX, commissary, banks, taxi
stands, post office, bus station, and Family & MWR
facilities such as the gym, library, bowling lanes and
the golf course.
Military service members, dependents, civilian
contractors and their visitors are welcomed; and may
choose from a variety of rooms that would better
suit their needs. The Casey Lodge now has large,

kitchenette, living room space with a 32” TV, and an
additional bedroom with a desk, spacious closet and
32” TV. Some kitchenettes even include amenities
for families who want to dine-in from the privacy and
comfort of their rooms. Renovations also focused
on turning normal rooms into designated long-term
rooms, keeping in mind customers that may include
personnel on TDY, contractors, Soldiers on 9-month
rotations, and other visitors who opt for an extended
stay in Area 1.
Why choose the Casey Lodge and not an off-post
hotel? “We have a better standard of rooms, much
higher quality compared to off-post hotels,” Ms.
Roderick explained. “You’ll actually get a real queen-sized
bed, not a low-to-the-floor type of thing; and our
rooms have flat-screen television, just like most of the
ones off-post-----and did I mention the convenience
of staying on-post?, she added with a smile. Visitors
at the Lodge can expect a nice continental breakfast
in the early morning hours, enjoy a number of local
on-post activities such as FMWR/BOSS events and
activities, a round of golf or two; and in the future, off-post
tours and trips hosted by the Casey Lodge.
Ms. Roderick has been managing the Casey Lodge
since 2010, bringing with her an abundance of
experience working as a manager and coordinator for
a number of hotels and events in the Las Vegas area.
During her time in Area 1 she’s budgeted for, and
managed over $500,000 worth of projects to improve
the quality of life for her customers at Casey Lodge
and the Camp Red Cloud Lodge. She has a staff of
25 personnel, both Americans and Korean nationals
alike, who assist her in operations to include: billeting,
maintenance, housekeeping, clerical, and other duties
that impact customers on a daily basis.
For a comfortable and pleasant stay at an affordable
price, book your next reservation at the Camp Casey
or Camp Red Cloud Lodge. Both facilities have
an assortment of nearby on-post/off-post activities
that will keep you busy during your visit. If you are
a service member, dependent or civilian/contractor
visiting Area 1, call today; the hospitable and friendly,
English-speaking staff will be more than happy to take
care of you and your family.
DID YOU KNOW THAT THE CASEY LODGE:
• Is the only Army Lodge that has free Wi-Fi
in the Pacific Region?
• Staff are American Hotel & Lodging
Association (AH&LA) certified?
• Was built in 1995, originally with only 26
rooms?

ARMY FAMILY NOVEMBER 19-20, 2014
USAG CASEY COMMUNITY ACTIVITY CENTER
What is AFAP?
• The “Voice of the Customer”
• Engages Soldiers, Family members, survivors, retirees and Army Civilians
across all Army Components to identify, prioritize, and elevate quality of life
issues to senior leaders for action and resolution.
• AFAP process starts with identification of issues at the garrison and unit level.
Issues’ viability is assessed before prioritization by AFAP General Officer
Steering Committee (GOSC) member.
• AFAP is codified in Army Regulation 608-1: Army Community Service (ACS).
Got An Issue?
The AFAP Conference provides an opportunity to voice your concerns relating
to the Area I Community’s Quality of Life for Soldiers, Family Members,
Retirees, and DA Civilians. Voicing your concerns, experiences, and sharing
your ideas on how to improve processes and systems that seem broken may
affect changes not just here at the local level, but also at Higher Headquarters
and the U.S. Army as a whole. But it all starts with YOU!
What Can I Do?
What can YOU do? I am glad you asked! Each year, during the 1st Quarter of
the new Fiscal Year, USAG Red Cloud and Area I conduct an AFAP conference.
This year’s AFAP conference is set to kick off on 19 November through 20
November 2014.
Leading up to the two-day event and during the conference as well, will be
some great Volunteer opportunities in which YOU can become involved and
participate. The AFAP Conference is held for the community and much of the
effort in the planning and coordination done is by members from within our
own community!
This year’s AFAP conference will need Facilitators, Recorders, Transcribers,
and Issue Support, just to name a few volunteer positions. We will also

need Delegates! Delegates are essential to the AFAP Conference, as they are
charged with working together in group sets to review and prioritize issues
which are then presented to the Garrison Commander and Area I Leaders
during the Out Brief Session of the conference. Delegates are made up of
Active Duty, Officer and Enlisted, Family Members, Retirees and DA Civilians
from the community. That means YOU!
How Can You Get Involved?
Submit your issues, concerns, and recommendations by logging on to

You may also submit your issues by finding a local AFAP Issues Submission Box
located in ACS, designated areas on Camp Casey, Camp Red Cloud, and other

Issues are just as important because without them we essentially have nothing
to discuss in the workgroups−Your Voice counts!

51. Army Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October 2014
Installation Commander’s Proclamation
Domestic Violence Awareness Month is recognized October of each year. In recent years, there has
been an upward trend in substantiated cases of domestic violence in the Army. It is important to
realize that many causes and conditions contribute to domestic violence, and it takes more than the
usual effort to reduce the risk. We should never assume that someone else is solving the problem
for us.
Without every one of us doing our part, we cannot say our Army is fully ready to meet the mission
of domestic violence prevention. As long as any Army spouse suffers from abuse, we have fallen
short of our goals for readiness. Therefore, the message to everyone in the USAG Red Cloud / 2nd
Infantry Division community for Domestic Violence Awareness Month 2014 is very simple:
Relationships Should Be Safe, Respectful and Positive.
Relationships are like gardens; they need to be cultivated and require care to ensure they are a
positive and healthy part of your life. Relationships should be safe. Feeling safe in a relationship,
both physically and emotionally is crucial.
Relationships should be respectful. Respecting your partner is one of the fundamental ways to show
love. Common courtesy goes a long way to making another person feel respected.
Relationships should be positive. Encourage each other to be that positive role model for your
children. Children learn about relationships by watching the people they know best. It is everyone’s
responsibility to create a climate of respect and safety within the Army Family.
Join me in making this October’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month the beginning of a year-round
campaign to end domestic abuse. Let the USAG-Red Cloud/Casey Family Advocacy
Program be your partner in preventing and reducing the risk of domestic abuse, and restore valued
relationships that are deteriorating. Safe, Respectful, Positive relationships can be the end result of
these efforts.

for all first term soldiers. This training is also available online at
www.myarmyonesource.com.
LARGE PURCHASES – This instruction will cover how making
Large Purchases is a very important step and that it should
never be done on impulse. A large purchase is anything that is
not budgeted for and may require time to save to purchase it
without credit.
USING CREDIT WISELY – This course of instruction will inform
the Soldier just how important it is to use their credit wisely.
Long ago credit was used to buy supplies before farm crops
came in. Presently, too many people use credit to buy items
they just cannot afford. This instruction will point out some of
the do’s and DON’Ts when it comes to using credit.
PARENTING A TEEN - Parenting children is hard enough,
and the teen years can be challenging. Discuss issues around
teenagers and how to work with them, without confrontation.

to me! Learn some tips on how to be “heard” and “hear” your
partner, for better understanding of what is trying to be said.
PARENTING EDUCATION (3+) - Sometimes we don’t know
what to do with our kids’ behaviors. Learn some positive ways
to discipline children with natural consequences, not negative
punishment.
ANGER MANAGEMENT - Anger is a normal emotion. It is
what we do with our anger that can cause issues. This class
will give you some skills in how to deal with our anger and turn
it around so anger can motivate us to do something positive
and not just react.

SFC Jorge Sabillon
For SFC Jorge Sabillon, it
was never a question of if he
would volunteer, but rather a
matter of how he was going
to serve the Camp Casey
community, and what he can do
to make a positive difference.
It didn’t take long though, for
him to find his niche.
SFC Sabillon is not exactly
new to the Army Volunteer
Corp (AVC), actively
participating in his Columbus, Georgia community and logging
more than 100 volunteer hours in the process. Throughout that
time, he’s worked with youth groups, provided meals to more
than 200 less fortunate families during Thanksgiving Holidays, and
spent countless evenings and weekends coaching little league
soccer for more than two years. SFC Sabillon continues to be a
strong advocate of volunteerism, and since his arrival at Camp
Casey, has been instrumental in developing the volunteer program
within Charlie Company, 2-9th Infantry.
SFC Sabillon took the initiative and helped increase Soldiers’
awareness of volunteer programs by promoting volunteerism and
advertising volunteer opportunities in Area I. After attending the
Organization Point of Contact (OPOC) training offered by ACS in
July, he dedicated numerous hours training his Soldiers on how
to register in the Volunteer Management Information System
(VMIS) and the Army OneSource.com website. As a result, SFC
Sabillon helped more than 20
Soldiers register in VMIS, enabling
them to become active volunteers
by completing several classes to
include Volunteer Orientation,
VMIS and OPOC training; an
inspiring effort that played a vital
part in making the OPOC position
an official additional company duty.
Although the majority of his day is
dedicated to serving as a Platoon
Sergeant, SFC Sabillon now also
serves as the Company’s OPOC
NCOIC.
SFC Sabillon successfully
spearheaded his unit’s
participation in the Manchu - Ae
Shin Orphanage Bowling Event.
Despite the event taking place on
a weekend, 17 volunteers took part
in it, dedicating over 50 hours to
an inspiring cause.
SFC Jorge Sabillon exemplifies
admirable traits of an exceptional
leader on and off duty, one who
takes care of his Soldiers, and is
always looking to give something
back to the community. It is for
this reason we take time to say
“Thank you, SFC Sabillon!” and
put you in the Volunteer Spotlight
for the month of October 2014.
