Hello Area 1 Community Members!
I would like to say “Thank You” for
participating in our Independence Day
Celebration July 4th at Camp Casey. What
a change from last year where you stood
fast during the “on and off” again rains, this
year we had bright beautiful sunny skies and
though at times it was quite warm, the smiles
on your faces and your laughter could be
heard throughout the event site. From food eating contest, Warrior’s
Got Talent show, games, rides, entertainment, food and beverage there was so much to offer, so much fun and what more could one say except “WOW” when the fireworks capped off a perfect day.
Area 1 has a lot going on in August check out some of our favorites:
Commander's Cup Video Challenge at all Area I CACs, CRC BOSS "Hoop it UP", Commander's Cup Intramural Golf at Casey and CRC, DMZ Trips with sign ups at Area I CACs, Family Rail Bike Trip to Gangchon, Comedy Show at Gateway, CYSS Open House, you can find all these and more in the August ITZ magazine, “Happy Reading!”

Hello USAG Red Cloud and Area I
Community Members!
Can you believe it we are nearing the end
of the year already; time flew by so fast, and
soon it will be Christmas and then New Years
Eve! It’s a very special time of the year to
spend with family and friends.
Unfortunately, this may not be the case
with some of our Area I members. As much
as it is a glorious time of the year, this season
can be a very difficult time for many of our
unaccompanied Soldiers and Families far from home. Please be vigilant
and watch for lonely and/or depressed symptoms, and reach out to your
Battle Buddies; invite them into your home or get them involved in Unit
or FMWR activities at the clubs, bowling centers, CACs or ACS. The Army
is one big family and we need to take care of our own, so open your
hearts and homes to your extended family here in Area I.

Digital Commerce Lecture for Advanced Digital & Social Media Strategy at UCLA...Valters Lauzums
E-commerce in 2024 is characterized by a dynamic blend of opportunities and significant challenges. Supply chain disruptions and inventory shortages are critical issues, leading to increased shipping delays and rising costs, which impact timely delivery and squeeze profit margins. Efficient logistics management is essential, yet it is often hampered by these external factors. Payment processing, while needing to ensure security and user convenience, grapples with preventing fraud and integrating diverse payment methods, adding another layer of complexity. Furthermore, fulfillment operations require a streamlined approach to handle volume spikes and maintain accuracy in order picking, packing, and shipping, all while meeting customers' heightened expectations for faster delivery times.
Amid these operational challenges, customer data has emerged as an important strategy. By focusing on personalization and enhancing customer experience from historical behavior, businesses can deliver improved website and brand experienced, better product recommendations, optimal promotions, and content to meet individual preferences. Better data analytics can also help in effectively creating marketing campaigns, improving customer retention, and driving product development and inventory management.
Innovative formats such as social commerce and live shopping are beginning to impact the digital commerce landscape, offering new ways to engage with customers and drive sales, and may provide opportunity for brands that have been priced out or seen a downturn with post-pandemic shopping behavior. Social commerce integrates shopping experiences directly into social media platforms, tapping into the massive user bases of these networks to increase reach and engagement. Live shopping, on the other hand, combines entertainment and real-time interaction, providing a dynamic platform for showcasing products and encouraging immediate purchases. These innovations not only enhance customer engagement but also provide valuable data for businesses to refine their strategies and deliver superior shopping experiences.
The e-commerce sector is evolving rapidly, and businesses that effectively manage operational challenges and implement innovative strategies are best positioned for long-term success.
Search Engine Marketing - Competitor and Keyword researchETMARK ACADEMY
Over 2 Trillion searches are made per day in Google search, which means there are more than 2 Trillion visits happening across the websites of the world wide web.
People search various questions, phrases or words. But some words and phrases are searched
more often than others.
For example, the words, ‘running shoes’ are searched more often than ‘best road running
shoes for men’
These words or phrases which people use to search on Google are called Keywords.
Some keywords are searched more often than others. Number of times a keyword is searched
for in a month is called keyword volume.
Some keywords have more relevant results than others. For the phrase “running shoes” we
get more than 80M relevant results, whereas for “best road running shoes for men” we get
only 8.
The former keyword ‘running shoes’ has way more competition from popular websites to
new and small blogs, whereas the latter keyword doesn’t have that much competition. This
search competition for a keyword is called search difficulty of a keyword or keyword
difficulty.
In other words, if the keyword difficulty is ‘low’ or ‘easy’, there won’t be any competition
and if you target such keywords on your site, you can easily rank on the front page of Google.
Some keywords are searched for, just to know or to learn some information about something,
that’s their search intention. For example, “What shoe size should I choose?” or “How to pick
the right shoe size?”
These keywords which are searched just to know about stuff are called informational
keywords. Typically people who are searching this type of keywords are top of a Conversion
funnel.
Conversion funnel is the journey that search visitors go through on their way to an email
subscription or a premium subscription to the services you offer or a purchase of products
you sell or recommend using your referral link.
For some buyers, research is the most important part when they have to buy a product.
Depending on that, their journey either widens or narrows down. These types of buyers are
Researchers and they spend more time with informational keywords.
Conversion is the action you want from your search visitors. Number of conversions that you
get for every 100 search visitors is called Conversion rate.
People who are at different stages of a conversion funnel use different types of keywords.

Hello Area I Community Members,
I hope everyone’s Holiday activities were on
target and that your New Year Resolutions are
still holding “true!”
Here we are in February, with birthdays for
George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, and
the start of the Korean Lunar New Year. So far
in Family and MWR, things are still moving full
speed ahead as we prepare for spring! With
that said, the Casey Golf Course will begin
dining room and kitchen renovations starting February 3, which may cause
some disruptions in hours of operations and certain services, for which we
apologize. However, in exchange we promise you’ll experience increased
product delivery and smoother customer service once the renovation is
complete!
I paid a visit to the Gateway Club and though everything appears ‘gutted,’
I can already imagine how awesome this will look once the renovation is
complete. We’re still anticipating a Grand Opening in spring, and are quite
excited to show what we’ve got in store for the community----you’ll be
pleasantly surprised! I also visited the Carey Fitness Center and “oh my
gosh” it is looking great! Mr. Larry Butler,Area I Sports & Fitness Director,
will definitely blow you away with his renovation concept and the Grand
Opening Weekend he’s planned for Area I!
We have a lot going on for you starting with the “Super Bowl XLIX
Parties” at Warrior’s Club, Mitchell’s Club and Reggie’s Pub….don’t forget,
Casey Golf Course and Hovey Iron Triangle also has something for you!

Championships, ‘All You Can Eat’ Prime Rib and Sushi at Warrior’s Club,

24. What are you doing this weekend? Are you new
to Korea, or perhaps been here for a while and didn’t
have time to learn how to travel around? Well, don’t
wait any longer, sign-up today for ‘Adventure Seoul!’.
USAG-RC Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation
(FMWR), is offering a transportation class for Soldiers,
Family Members and DOD personnel to help them
navigate their way around, and most importantly, tour
and thoroughly enjoy their stay in Korea.
Most Area I newcomers are usually apprehensive
about using the Korean transportation system. The
apprehension is understandable, given the fact
that not only do travelers have to contend with the
language barrier, but there’s always the chance of
getting lost because they’ve missed a sign in Hangeul!
But what if there was a class that made it easier for
you to find your way around, a class that will take the
mystery out of traveling in Korea ‘in one session’----
would you take that class today?
The Korean transportation system is among the
Story by SGT. Micus Ralls

AdventureSeoulClass
25. most effective and widely-used transit systems in the
world, with the subway systems alone, accommodating
more than 8 million trips daily. This robust system
connects Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi-do Province,
Northern Chungcheongnam-do Province and Western
Gangwon-do Province with each other. This basically
means, that if you learn the fundamentals of riding the
bus or train, you’ll have access to most tourist locations
and Korean hotspots that you’ve heard about or
probably seen on a Korea travel brochure.
Mrs. Yong Ae Black and her staff at the Camp Red
Cloud Community Activities Center (CAC) conducts an
‘Adventure Seoul’ class every 3rd Sunday of the month,
or whenever there is a need to teach newcomers on
how to navigate their way around their new home.
During these classes, attendees are given a majority
vote on where they’d like to travel, and the CRC CAC
Staff guides them from there.
“We take them
outside of the
installation, board the
next bus and head
towards the train
station. Upon arriving,
we show them how to
purchase a T-Money
Card and how to ‘load’
money onto the card.
This is a crucial part
of the class because
the T-Money card is
their ticket into getting around Korea, and it’s equally
important they have enough on the cards to enable
them to travel where they want to go. From there,
the class continues instruction on where to swipe the
card and which signs to look out for before boarding a
train,” said Mrs. Black.
Mrs. Yong Ae Black

26. Most Koreans and foreigners take advantage of
the benefits of having a T-Money card. This card is
like the ultimate pass card to unlock different means
of transportation, sort of like a ‘pay-as-you-go’ card
used for most subways, buses and even some taxis in
Korea. You may purchase T-Money cards at subway
stations or some 24/7 convenience stores such as
GS25, Family Mart, 7-Eleven----or better yet, just head
out to your nearest Area I CAC and purchase one from
the front desk!
“Using T-Money is just like using a debit card. The
card itself was free before but now it costs W2500 just
for the card fee. The special FMWR T-Money Cards
we’ll begin selling on February 15 for $5, will work
the same way, but with the added feature that these
can be used for both the train/bus transit system
and also with participating taxi companies; whereas,
the T-Money cards issued by train station charging
machines are solely for subway rides,” Mrs. Black
pointed out.
The Adventure Seoul class teaches students how to
reach their destination by reading a subway map. The
Seoul subway system may seem intimidating at first,
but for most of you Soldiers who’ve taken a map-
reading class in Basic Training----well, this should be
a breeze! The CRC CAC staff provides guidance on
how to plan your travel route by identifying a starting
point and a destination. It’s very important to mark
your way and identify subway stops as you travel,
by listening to announcements or observing subway
notices and landmarks as the train passes by.
Using the public transportation in Korea offers
Soldiers or Family Members an affordable, fast and
relaxing alternative to driving in Korea. “Some
people might be hesitant to drive to Seoul, and
some would just prefer the adventure of public
transportation in Korea. Our Adventure Seoul class
will teach you how to take advantage of the country’s
excellent subway/bus transport system, an experience
that will help you explore and enjoy Korea even more.
We’ll teach you how to transfer train lines like a pro,
and show you how to reach Yongsan or Dongdaemun
in no time!” said Mrs. Black with a cheery smile.
The entire tour usually includes shopping and
eating lunch on the way to the planned destination for
the day. Throughout the class, Mrs. Black encourages
everyone to learn the meaning of some simple and
basic Korean symbols, which helps ease some of the
frustration when using public transportation. Many
subway stations also provide convenient facilities
such as easy access to self-storage lockers and
phone-charging stations. And since most stations are
26 USAG Red Cloud - Casey and Area I Family and MWR Magazine
AdventureSeoulClass
27. also located near shopping districts, exhibitions and
performance theatres; this makes it easier for you to
access popular hotspots and other tourist destinations.
Don’t let time slip by while you’re stationed here
in Korea, explore the world outside your new duty
station! Oftentimes, Soldiers end up being stuck in
their barracks because they’re hesitant or intimidated
by the supposed ‘complexity’ of local travel----but it
doesn’t have to be that way.
Whether you’re a newcomer or a more seasoned
Soldier, traveling around Korea is not as difficult as
it appears. Your first step is to sign-up for the next
‘Adventure Seoul’ class, and the next is to purchase
your discounted T-Money Card at your nearest
FMWR CAC. Doing so, would open up lots of travel
possibilities and adventures during your stay in Area I.
So what are you waiting for? Give the game
consoles a little break, round up your buddies and
learn more about Adventure Seoul today! If you’d
like to learn more about using a T-Money card and
the 'Adventure Seoul' class, please contact Mrs. Black
and her staff at the Camp Red CAC at 732-6246 or
visit your nearest Stanley, Hovey, Casey CAC for more
information.

Dollarsand$en$e
If you’re one of the lucky ones who’ve managed to
move through the current economic crisis unscathed,
your outlook is no doubt brighter than those who
have been hit hard by layoffs, foreclosures and more.
This is not the time to relax about the economy and
your personal finances, however — because the
problems are not over. Whatever you have in savings
for a rainy day or emergency, double it. Aim for a
minimum of nine months of living expenses that you
can get your hands on quickly, which means savings
or money-market accounts. Do a bare-bones budget
and see what it looks like. Consider various options.
In one you might subtract only the daily cappuccino
from your expenses. In another not only do you stop
getting cappuccino but you also cancel your book-
club membership and decide to wear last year’s
winter coat. Perhaps you decide to go all the way and
stop eating at restaurants, having carryout delivered
and buying prime cuts at the butcher. Even if you’re
doing well so far in this ragged economy, you owe
it to yourself to see what an austerity budget really
looks like. If you’ve never used coupons or paid
attention to sales flyers in the newspaper, start now.
Spend more time saving money. Pay down debt.
While new laws have been passed to restrict the
creditcard companies, credit-card debt still comes
with a price tag in the form of interest and fees.
Spend your money on necessities that have a future
value, like vehicle tires. Decide if you really need a
new television, or if you just want it. Consider what
you would do for income should you lose your job.
Find out how much unemployment benefits would be
in your area and how long you’d get them. Calculate
how much of your current bills you actually could pay
each month. Add in your savings and re-do the math:
How long could you survive on a lower budget? Vow
to spend only on necessities for one month to see
what it feels like. If you need encouragement to take
some austerity steps, attend a job fair and talk to job
seekers. Because it really isn’t over.

it should never be done on impulse. A large purchase is
anything that is not budgeted for and may require time to
save to purchase it without credit.
USING CREDIT WISELY – This course of instruction will
inform the Soldier just how important it is to use their credit
wisely. Long ago credit was used to buy supplies before
farm crops came in. Presently, too many people use credit
to buy items they just cannot afford. This instruction will
point out some of the do’s and DON’Ts when it comes to
using credit.
PARENTING A TEEN - Parenting children is hard enough,
and the teen years can be challenging. Discuss issues
around teenagers and how to work with them, without
confrontation.

never listens to me! Learn some tips on how to be “heard”
and “hear” your partner, for better understanding of what is
trying to be said.
PARENTING EDUCATION (3+) - Sometimes we don’t know
what to do with our kids’ behaviors. Learn some positive
ways to discipline children with natural consequences, not
negative punishment.

what we do with our anger that can cause issues. This class
will give you some skills in how to deal with our anger and
turn it around so anger can motivate us to do something
positive and not just react.

you have family members enrolled in EFMP? Do you know
and understand how EFMP benefits your family? EFMP

PFC Sofia Arenasa is currently serving as a Food
Inspection Specialist (68R) with the 106th Medical
Detachment (Veterinary Service Support), Team I at
Camp Red Cloud. Her mission as a food inspector is
critical to the support of the Second Infantry Division
as well as the other units in the area. As this is her
first duty station, PFC Arenasa has readily jumped
into the mix in providing support throughout Area I.
On any given day you might find her here at Camp
Red Cloud or venturing out to places such as Camp
Bonifas or Warrior Base to ensure that the Soldiers
and families there are receiving safe and wholesome
food. In addition to her busy work life, PFC Arenasa
has actively immersed herself into the volunteer
opportunities here in Korea. Since her arrival to Korea
in June, PFC Arenasa has averaged approximately 20
hours of volunteer time each month.
Hailing from the Philippines, PFC Arenasa
immediately recognized the importance of giving
back to the community and those in need. She
quickly familiarized herself with the opportunities
available to assist those around her while she was in
Korea. As a Red Cross volunteer, PFC Arenasa has
contributed to numerous projects to include assisting
with holiday events such as Holiday Mail For Heroes
and broadcasting what unique opportunities the
Red Cross can provide to Soldiers. A single Soldier
herself, PFC Arenasa instantaneously identified with
the need to get herself and her fellow Soldiers out
of the barracks and into the community. As a team
BOSS representative and volunteer, PFC Arenasa’s
contributions have been instrumental in providing
better opportunities for single Soldiers across Area
I, to include re-opening of the Camp Red Cloud
movie theater, 2ID Band and visiting musician

concerts, clean-up of the Camp Stanley ville and
lending a helping hand at the Uijeongbu Soup
Kitchen. Dedicated and passionate volunteers such
as herself are reasons why the Area I BOSS program
was awarded the title of “Best Boss Program in the
Pacific.
PFC Arenasa’s upbeat attitude and enthusiasm
transcends from her work life to her volunteer
activities. After a unanimous vote, PFC Arenasa was
nominated to be the volunteer coordination point-of-
contact for Team I of the 106th Medical Detachment.
On a weekly basis, she reports what events are
available to team members and encourages them to
participate in volunteer events alongside her.
PFC Arenasa is a tireless advocate for community
service, and a valuable asset to the military
community. Her time and commitment exemplifies the
Army’s Volunteer Corp's invaluable service to the Area
I community. For this we are grateful, and say 'Thank
you' and Congratulations PFC Arenasa, for being in
the Community Volunteer Spotlight for the month of
February 2015.
