2. The pulp and paper industry is one of the most
energy-intensive sectors in North America and the
European Union.

for 24% of the total energy consumed by manufacturing operations in the country.
Typical paper mills use most of their energy in the
drying process. In fact some 60% to 80% of a paper
mill’s energy can be used for drying of the product.
