Traditionally, Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) tends to focus on retrospective outcomes within one assignment, module or course. Self-study curricular design offers unique opportunities to navigate unknowns through formative, systematic SoTL work. The purpose of the session is to propose scholarly teaching and learning intentionally integrated into program development. The session explores an intricate process incorporating SoTL during creation of an interprofessional PhD in Education and Leadership. The process includes comprehensive mapping of curriculum, deliberate collaborative inquiry across an interprofessional community of novice and expert scholars, and projected chronicling of impact. Participants will review a prospective SoTL process, followed by collaborative design of projects. Literature: There are elements of backwards design and curricular self-study contributing to SoTL from the start, however, literature discussing SoTL in design processes is limited. Nelson described five general groups of SoTL, none of which specifically address prospective development (2004).More
recently, Nelson described an idealized seven-step model to design, present, and analyze SoTL projects (2014). The model hints at front-end design but only in reference to individual courses rather than entire curricula. Wilson, Doenges and Gurung (2013) proposed a continuum of SoTL and a series of benchmarks to serve as a basis for rigorous study. They suggested “SoTL should be held to a higher standard of deliberate, well-planned, programmatic, and designed research that should extend, if possible, beyond a semester and a single class” (p. 68). Salmon articulated overlapping scholarship of integration with scholarship of teaching and learning (2004). Salmon’s work described implementation of educational practice beyond crossing disciplinary boundaries to embed Boyer’s framework for informed curricular development. Presenters propose participants expand their scholarly teaching and learning as intentionally integrated into program development. INTRODUCTION
Module 3 Week 6: The Purpose Statement
In this course, you have learned that a final problem statement normally takes many months to develop. Yet this week, you are asked to begin to develop the purpose statement. This is not because your problem statement is finalized but because it is time for you to evaluate and practice creating the rest of the common components of the doctoral capstone. This is part of the iterative process of preparing the capstone.
Remember, though, that the assignments in this course are unlikely to be final versions of your study. The intention is to help you to understand and prepare for what you will need to write in your capstone.
The purpose statement serves as the connection between the problem being addressed and the focus of the study. Depending on the methodology, in:
· Quantitative studies, state what needs to be studied by describing two or more factors (variables) and a conjectured relationship between (among) them related to the identified gap in practice or problem;
· Qualitative studies, describe the need for increased understanding about the issue to be studied (based on the identified gap or problem); and
· Mixed-methods studies (with both quantitative and qualitative aspects), clarify how the two approaches will be used together to inform the study.
Notes on Readings
This week’s readings continue to provide information on how to review the research literature. Apply this guidance to your ongoing efforts to read and take notes interactively in the research relevant to your problem. Stephen King, who has written more than 50 novels—and other books that have sold hundreds of millions of copies—also wrote about how he writes. In his book, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft, King explains that his iterative approach to writing involves writing, putting it aside, writing something else, and then returning to the first draft.
While it is unlikely you will adopt Stephen King’s ritual for draft versions, recognize that “writing drafts” are an essential part of the process. This week’s writing assignment allows you to present an improved and refined problem statement and an aligned purpose statement.

ABSTRACT: This talk will discuss the results from a nationwide survey of the level of confidence that librarians working in scholarly communication in Australia and New Zealand have in their current competencies. The work showed that while respondents were generally confident across seven competency areas (Institutional repository management, Publishing services, Research practice, Copyright services, Open access policies and scholarly communication landscape, Data management services, and Assessment and impact metrics), the majority combined their scholarly communication tasks with other roles. There are challenges across the sector in updating skills and knowledge to keep abreast of current trends and developments were identified. This work has significant implications for improving both the education provision in this area and creating more professional development opportunities.

When students are conducting their research project as part of their studies, they can be better prepared for the societal and professional challenges of the future. This study contributes to the research of the inquirer identity by elaborating a model for the assessment of student-inquirer identity skills in light of the development of a master thesis in an education-related field in an online university. The model presents student-inquirer identity as a dynamic multiplicity of ten skills related to the five phases of the practice of inquiry (search and focus, understand and explore, design and implement, interpret/evaluate and reflect, write and present). Based on the model, a questionnaire that measures students’ inquiry skills during the development of the master thesis was constructed. The questionnaire is comprised of ten sub-scales with 42 Likert-type items in total. 154 students of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya responded to the questionnaire. Findings revealed that, overall, online students develop inquiry skills to a moderate extent while conducting their master thesis.High School to College: Preparing for College Research

Module 3 Week 6: The Purpose Statement
In this course, you have learned that a final problem statement normally takes many months to develop. Yet this week, you are asked to begin to develop the purpose statement. This is not because your problem statement is finalized but because it is time for you to evaluate and practice creating the rest of the common components of the doctoral capstone. This is part of the iterative process of preparing the capstone.
Remember, though, that the assignments in this course are unlikely to be final versions of your study. The intention is to help you to understand and prepare for what you will need to write in your capstone.
The purpose statement serves as the connection between the problem being addressed and the focus of the study. Depending on the methodology, in:
· Quantitative studies, state what needs to be studied by describing two or more factors (variables) and a conjectured relationship between (among) them related to the identified gap in practice or problem;
· Qualitative studies, describe the need for increased understanding about the issue to be studied (based on the identified gap or problem); and
· Mixed-methods studies (with both quantitative and qualitative aspects), clarify how the two approaches will be used together to inform the study.

Stephen King, who has written more than 50 novels—and other books that have sold hundreds of millions of copies—also wrote about how he writes. In his book, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft, King explains that his iterative approach to writing involves writing, putting it aside, writing something else, and then returning to the first draft.
While it is unlikely you will adopt Stephen King’s ritual for draft versions, recognize that “writing drafts” are an essential part of the process. This week’s writing assignment allows you to present an improved and refined problem statement and an aligned purpose statement.

1. What parameters/Indicators are used to determine whether a student is college-ready or not?
The question is crucial in identifying whether the instructors are aware of the factors that contribute to college readiness among the students. Several indicators influence college readiness. Such parameters are combined before understanding whether a high school student is college-ready. Some indicators accurately show students’ college preparedness, while others give a false picture. Leeds & Mokher (2019) showed that using placement tests to assign students to developmental courses results in frequent misplacement. The authors used data from Florida. They concluded that it might be preferable to choose cutoffs that minimize misplacement than to use new metrics (Leeds & Mokher, 2019). - 5. Statement of the Problem This study aims to discover the perception of ICI Grade 12 students on the proposed limited face-to-face classes at the start of SY 2022-2023. Specifically, this study seeks to answer following questions: 1. What are the demographic profiles of the respondents in terms of: a.) age; b.) gender; c.) senior high strand; and d.) family monthly income? 2. What is the perception of Grade 12 students on the proposed limited face-to-face classes at the start of SY 2022-2023 in terms of: a.) safety; and b.) financial readiness?
