Sonic And The Black Knight
INTRO
Sonic and The Black Knight. (I swear it s not racist.)
I remember renting this game when I was younger several years ago, but I don t have too many
fond memories of it.
Maybe I was a stupid kid who just didn t understand how the game worked, or maybe I just knew
crap when I saw it.
Either way, let s get right into it. GAMEPLAY; CONTROLS
Right off the bat you ll notice that unlike Sonic and the Secret Rings you don t control Sonic by
tilting the wiimote, instead movement has been shifted to the control stick on the Nun chuck.
This is a significant improvement in terms of control. It just feels better, ya know.
However, like almost every game in this series. It s always two steps forward and one step back. ...

James Joyce Annotated Bibliography Essay
Joyce s modernistic view of Dublin society permeates all of his writings. The Irish experiences
account for a large portion of Joyce s writings. Stephen Dedalus is sometimes Joyce s pseudonym
and represents Joyce and his life in Joyce s works. Joyce plays a crucial role in the modernist
movement in literature. Some of the well known innovative techniques used by Joyce are
symbolism, realism and stream of consciousness. James Joyces writings contain autobiographical
matter and display his view of life in Dublin, Ireland with the use of symbolism, realism, and stream
of consciousness.
Joyce was born into a middle class, Catholic family in Dublin, Ireland on February 2, 1882 and
wrote all his works about that city, even though he lived ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dubliners revolves around the everyday lives of men, women, and children n the Irish capital of
Dublin and is based on real people and places that were part of Joyce s life.
Shortly after his mother s death, in place of Stephen Hero, Joyce wrote A Portrait of the Artist as
a Young Man, which was based on the events of his life (Gifford 160). In this largely
autobiographical novel, Joyce wrote that I go to encounter for the millionth time the reality of
experience and to force in the smithy of my soul the uncreated conscience of my race (Gifford
177). Joyce appears as the character Stephen Dedalus in this book. Like Joyce, Stephen finds
himself in conflict with his family, the Roman Catholic Church, and the nationalistic zeal of the
Irish people. Also, like Joyce, Dedalus leaves Ireland and wishes to become a writer
(www.jamesjoyce.ie). By depicting Stephen with a mixture of irony and sympathy, Joyce suggests
the special importance of the artist in the modern world.
Divided into five chapters, this book follows Stephen s life from childhood through adolescence to
manhood. We are essentially given a window into Stephen s consciousness, and the whole world is
unveiled to us through that single aperture. According to Sydney Bolt, no novel written before A
Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man can match its variety in styles This indicates Joyce s
originality. A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man is told in characteristic dialogue and ironically

Augustus Caesar Bad Leader
Many people would not hear the words good leader and Adolf Hitler in the same sentence. Nor
would anyone usually say that Mahatma Gandhi was an aggressive leader. Both past leaders
show many similar leadership qualities, but the way they broadcasted their ideologies diverges
severely. Many world leaders possess the qualities of authority, but none can quite be a perfect
commander. In fact, there is no such thing as a perfect leader. No commander can perfectly lead
a division into battle, and no chief can perfectly manage his tribe. For every strength of a good
leader, a flaw exists. There is no impeccable image of a leader. Everyone knows of Augustus
Caesar, the first Roman emperor. There is a whole month named after him. Augustus was a great
leader favored by the people and by neighboring countries. But most people don t know that he
also banished his daughter and granddaughter, that his potential heirs kept mysteriously dying, and
that he was extremely egotistical. Even though he expanded his empire more than any other
leader had before and reformed the entire government of Rome, he still had many pitfalls that
kept him from being a perfect leader. In the book Lord of the Flies, Ralph is an example of an
optimal leader. He has the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Literary Characteristics Of Jack Kerouac s On The Road
Jack Kerouac was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, wherein he roamed fields and riverbanks by
day and night. He wrote his first novel written at the age of eleven. He also kept extensive
diaries and newspapers. His parents, Leow and Gabrielle immigrated separately from rural
Quebec to New Hampshire. His family French Canadian dialect of Joual is used in their home.
French was the first language to Kerouac. He was educated by Jesuit brothers in Lowell. He said
that, he decided to become a writer at the age seventeen under the influence of Sebastian Sampas,
New York local young poet. His literary influences are Saroyan, Hemingway, and Wolfe. Kerouac
wished to develop his own new prose style, which he called пЂ вЂіSpontaneous Prose″. In
which, he acknowledged the life of the American ″traveler″ and... Show more content on

Kerouac was ecstatic at having established ″a new trend in American literature″. It is the
American writer Burroughs and Cassady given Kerouac useful models of autobiographical
narrative. Kerouac used first person narration like that of Burroughs s autobiography and imitates
Cassady s confessional style. He dramatizes the emotional effect of his road experiences in a rapid

Jack Kerouac s On the Road as an example of a work of fiction that approaches autobiography.
Although all Kerouac s main novels contain elements of autobiography, the novel On the Road
is presented as the fictional autobiography of Sal Paradise s road life. Kerouac involves himself
in a self interview , that appears similar to Thoreau s heroic reading of his life. Instead of
developing different narrative strategies, Kerouac uses four major trips, he made between 1947
and 1950 to convey the cultural, psychological, and spiritual changes that occurred. By examining
his life as a fiction, Kerouac effectively frees himself from the confines of the narrator s role in
autobiography and interprets his experiences with Neal Cassady beyond their historical

Howard Zinn s Slavery Without Submission
Slavery is a system where an individual can buy or own another person as property. The slave is
at the mercy of their master and is free to be bought, sold, or traded by their master. The United
States first adopted a policy of slavery in the middle of the 17th century. Before American slavery
became solely race based, there were indentured servants. These people worked on farms or
government projects until they had paid off their debts.
Eventually this practice evolved into the race based slavery that is familiar today. African slaves
imported from Africa were cheaper than indentured servants, and they had little to no voice in their
treatment. Hence the first part of the title of Howard Zinn s book Slavery Without Submission .
The African people sent to America might have been slaves, but they never lost hope in their
eventual freedom. Hymns, protests, and spirituals, kept the freedom fervor alive in the ... Show

Although she had been born a slave, she decided to assist her fellow slaves escape. Several forms
of slave resistance were created to combat their masters. Ulrich Phillips, a major historian of the
South, described numerous ways as to which slaves might protest. These included truancy, protests,
and to simply not work as hard . Men such as David Walker and Frederick Douglass felt that slaves
were entitled to their freedom and should in turn fight for their rights.
During the Civil War, the frequency and audacity of African slave revolts increased. For
instance, in 1841 a slave ship was overpowered by its slave cargo and then sailed to the British
West Indies. As the war progressed, Africans became willing to take part in more aggressive
protests. Slave spirituals and songs began to carry bolder messages. Such as the song O Canaan,
sweet Canaan, I am bound for the land of Canaan . With the free Northern states being their

Narrative Style and Structure of James and the Giant Peach
The books that Roald Dahl has written have very interesting narrative styles. In the story James
and the Giant Peach, Dahl uses vivid imagination. He uses many imaginary situations but yet at the
same time encompasses enough realistic situations that the reader can still relate to it. In James
and the Giant Peach, it starts out introducing a boy named James Henry Trotter who lives with his
loving mother and father. The narrator of the book tells us, the readers, that James and his family s
dream is to sail to New York City and climb all the way to the top of the Empire State Building.
This introduction makes us think that this story is realistic, because the ... Show more content on

These bugs carry on many different human like characteristics, which help make Dahl s
imaginative story seem somewhat realistic. All of these bugs talk to James about how they hate
life on the hill and a bug eats away the stem of the peach and they go rolling down the hill.
Throughout the story the peach, with all of the characters inside, is on a dangerous adventure. After
going through oceans and winds, the peach lands them on the top of the Empire State Building.
The bugs help capture the evil aunts and they live happily together.
This story is told in the third person point of view, which helps the reader understand the whole
story and not just one character s side. If the story was told by just one character s point of view,
the story could be similar but one would only see the view of that character. By Dahl using third
person point of view, this allows the readers to see each characters views and thoughts of what is
happening in the story.
Also, throughout the book Dahl has the narrator asking many questions to make the reader
imagine what is going to happen next. Usually the question comes toward the end of a page so
the reader has to wonder or is caught in suspense until the page is flipped. This gives the reader a
chance to use their imagination and guess what happens next. I believe this sort of writing helps
Dahl pull his

Different Perspectives In Octavia Butler s Kindred
In Octavia Butler s Kindred, Dana and Kevin both experience many unbelievable events that
change their sense of reality. They each travel back to the antebellum South for different amounts
of time, gaining different insights from the same events. Kevin, a white man, travels back to a
time of privilege, while his wife Dana, a black woman, travels back to a timeof hardship and
enslavement. Their contrasting perspectives cause them to see the world differently. For example,
Kevin draws from his sole point of view, while Dana uses her own perspective with other people s
perspectives. No matter when or where they are, Dana and Kevin determine the truththrough what
see and what they already know.
Kevin and Dana first conflict when Dana returns to 1976 for the first time. Kevin is in disbelief
about where Dana went, as he suggests what she experienced was a dream (17). He says this
despite the fact that he saw Dana disappear and reappear, something out of the ordinary. His
perspective is different from Dana s, meaning what he sees isn t always what actually happens.
Dana goes back in time, while Kevin saw Dana vanish and reappear (16). Despite not knowing what
Dana experienced, he still believes his point of view is a fact. Kevin insists Dana s experience was a
dream, and refers to his perspective as facts (16). By doing so, he asserts his perspective, the white
male perspective, is objective and truthful, while Dana s is illegitimate. Kevin s view is similar to

The Importance Of Love In Romeo And Juliet
Now many would call Romeo and Juliet the play that teaches us that love, at first sight, is real.
While reading this play the only thing the audience will be able to understand from this story is
that love holds no bounds, that some love is forever. In class, we came to the conclusion that
this play is about immature, naive, stubborn kids who do not understand the concept of what
real love is. Their demised stemmed from a fast paced relationship which bloomed from
rejection. Stupidity, naivety, stubbornness, and immaturity are all traits that may be used to
describe Romeo Montague. Now, these traits shaped Romeo to be the most irresponsible guy
ever which lead him and his supposed love to their demise. Now it is not to be said that Juliet
was not at fault, on the contrary, she is also to blame for their demise because the traits Romeo
has she seems to have too. Most of these ideas seem pretty petty for older people, which is why
it weighs so heavy on them, they are children, if they would have waited to even commence their
relationship they would have outgrown most of these traits and their demise may have been
avoided altogether. At the beginning of the play, we see Romeo carry the same feelings that he
expresses for Juliet for someone else. Before there was Juliet in Romeo s life there was Rosaline,
another Capulet. If you see how Romeo expresses his feelings for Rosaline, you can see that it is
the same way he later expresses them for Juliet. An example of this would be

his favorite things are his friends, food, gym, and leaving every day. His plans for after

Bullying At The State Of Nevada
We all might still recall back to our school days and the bully on the playground making recess
intolerable for some; or perhaps in the lunch room bully who helped themselves to our desserts.
That bully might have ended up in the principal s office, but likely not much more became of
them. Bullies have always been around, but now they have changed their preferred tactics. With the
growth of technology making our ordinary lives simpler, criminals and bullies have also used
technology to aid them in their transgressions. Many bullies have advanced to become cyber bullies
and their chosen scare tactic makes use of computers, cellular phones, or some other type of
communications device. What then is the actual definition of the act of bullying? Bullying in the
State of Nevada is defined as carrying out actions that may be highly offensive to a reasonable
person and intended to cause the student to suffer harm or serious emotional distress (Cyberbully
tactics are focus of state law, 2010). Cyber bullying elsewhere is bullying by means of electronic
communication (Cyberbully tactics are focus of state law, 2010). In Texas, bullying means
engaging in written or verbal expression or physical conduct that will physically harm another
student or student s property, or is persistent enough to create an intimidating or threatening
educational environment for a student (Grobe, 2012). These definitions are typical of those used in
other states. Advances in

Attention Deficit Disorder ( Adhd )
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD) continues to be a complex and widespread problem that is
occurring in children at an unprecedented rate. According to DSM V, a child must present
symptoms before the age of twelve and display the symptoms for at least six months. There are two
types of ADHD disorders; inattentive type and hyperactive impulsive. A child could also have a
combination of the two. Some of the most common symptoms for inattention include lack of
attention, difficulty sustaining attention, difficulty following instructions, easily distracted and
forgetfulness. Common symptoms for hyperactive impulsive include fidgeting, excessive
talking, being on the go very often and interrupting others (Mash Wolfe, 2008). Both types of
ADHD may affect a child s social, personal and academic life. Children with the disorder may
have sleeping problems and are more prone to accidents. Young children with ADHD show signs
of aggression as young as preschool. During preschool years, they are ignoring their parents,
acting out in public and getting into fights with other students or family members (Modesto, et
al., 2008). As a child enters his or her adolescent years, they are more likely to do poorly in school
and in some cases may even drop out. Their defiance poses a challenge for the parents (Modesto et
al, 2014). Studies have shown that parents with children who have ADHD frequently reinforce their
behaviors by giving attention to their impulsivity (Modesto, et al.,

Symptoms And Treatment Of Depression
Although older adults are at increased risk of depression, it is not a normal part of aging
(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2015; Mental Health Association, 2016).
Depression is among the leading causes of disability in the general adult population, ages 18
years and above (US Preventative Services Taskforce [USPST], 2016). The US Preventative
Services Taskforce recommends that all adult patients be screened for depression (USPST, 2016).
Approximately 6% of older adults, ages 65 and older, have some form of depression (Mental Health
Association, 2016). The risk of depression doubles after age 80 (Federal Interagency Forum on
Aging Related Statistics, 2012; Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
[SAMHSA], 2011). According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
(2011), among older adults, women are more likely to be diagnosed with depression; the
prevalence of dysthymia and minor depression in older adults is often under diagnosed; and lower
treatment rates are seen among ethnic minorities when compared to whites (SAMHSA, 2011).

novel myself. This kind of feeling is caused by imagery. Imagery is defined as the use of vivid
figurative language to represent objects, actions or ideas. Authors tend to use imagery to create a
mental image in the audience s head. This is often done with the use of your senses. Incorporating
details about touch, taste, or smell often gives the audience a specific idea of what the author is
trying to portray. Imagery is important in all literature but was especially prominent during the
romantic era. Edgar allan poe was a poet of the Romantic era who relied strongly on imagery to
portray his emotion. Poe had a difficult upbringing and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

has a stoic type of personality , he puts his soldiers and danes in harmful situations, and when
they get killed he doesn t bother or show any concern. Hrothgar in the second animated film
Beowulf 2008 is shown as self centered and weak, he commits suicide for no explanation and
leaves the kingdom with Beowulf. In both films the King appears to be a coward, and has other

Two Conceptions of Freedom or Two Appearances of a single...
In his essay quot; Two Concepts of Liberty, quot; Isaiah Berlin distinguishes between two
conceptions of freedom, namely negative and positive conception of freedom. Basically he
defines negative liberty as the absence of coercion. He states: quot;To coerce a man is to deprive
him of freedom quot; (121). According to him, coercion is the intention to interfere in the freedom
of an individual. Thus, absence of coercion is absence of deliberate, intentional coercion. For him,
negative libertyrequires an immune area, away from the obtrusive action of other people. For the
accomplishment of freedom quot;[s]ome portion of human existence must remain independent of
the sphere of social control quot; (126) However, achievement of negative... Show more content on

Therefore Berlin, proposes rejection of positive liberty for the preservation of relatively safe
negative notion of liberty.
I do believe that, the problem and philosophical decision to choose negative liberty, lies in the
obscurity of the two conceptions of liberty in Berlin s analysis. In fact, the differentiation of these
two conceptions is not clear in his analysis and both of them contain the same conception without
incompatibility for leading us to choose one among of them. As he says: The essence of the notion
of liberty, both in the positive and in the negative senses, is the holding off of something to
someone of others who trespass on my field or asset their authority over me, or of obsessions, fears,
neuroses, irrational forces intrudes and despots of one kind and another . Negative and positive
liberties are not mutually exclusive concepts. The real differentiating force, for the two them lies in
practice, the differentiation that history brought on the concept of liberty. The conception of
negative liberty contains certain notion of positive liberty. The opposite, the notions of negative
liberty in positive liberty, having the right to

Hansells Case study
In most companies, one of the primary goals is to produce world class and quality products. It is
also the reason why these institutions invest large portion of the budget in technology, employee
training/enhancement and modernising its facilities. Furthermore, the most essential resource of
every company is its manpower. It is the process in which the raw materials are being converted into
merchandise. This where human resources intercede to facilitate human resource activities to
improve the work, maintain standards and to align to the vision and mission of the company.
Hansells case study is a perfect example of enriching and empowering employees to gain better
outcome in terms of productivity and efficiency. In the case study, it was clearly defined how the
human resource personnel designed the employee development plan.

Similarities Between Zelda And Jay In The Great Gatsby
The novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is an autobiography. Many of Fitzgerald s
personal circumstances and experiences are portrayed in the novel and movie very similar to
Fitzgerald s life. Fitzgerald writes about what he envisions about himself through the character of
Gatsby and Nick.
If the novel is looked at from a point of view of Gatsby, it is clearly shown that the character
portrays experiences from Fitzgerald s life through biographical and historical events. Many of
Fitzgerald s experiences are incorporated into Jay Gatsby. Like Jay, Fitzgerald as a boy rejected the
circumstances of his own birth. He sometimes fantasized that he really had been born into a family

Don Juan Canto X Essay
Don Juan: Canto X is the tenth chapter of Lord George Gordon Byron s poem Don Juan. The
poem was written in London, England, or what is today known as Westminster, London, UK.
Don Juan is a controversial poem following the life of the titular character, unique in that it was
originally published anonymously so as to spare the author the expected backlash. Don Juan was
given a sheltered upbringing as a child, but as he reached adolescence he awoke to mature needs
and seduces a married woman. Rather than portray this sin as a grievous deed, Byron portrays it in
an almost comedic light and then proceeds to follow Don Juan on his increasingly ridiculous adult
adventures. This was a shocking poem that likely took aback the admittedly prudish English... Show

In this chapter of the storyline, Don Juan has spent some time in Russia under the hospitality of
Catherine the Great, earning a large monetary fortune and great social status. He writes to his
mother to relate his successes, but despite his alleged happiness, he falls ill for unexplained
reasons. A change of climate is recommended, so Catherine reluctantly sends him on a diplomatic
mission to England. He travels with his pseudo adopted orphan Leila and a group of subordinates
to reach London, impressing those he meets in various countries along the way. It is once the party
reaches London that Byron finally expresses all his critical sentiments against his hometown.
Byron first mocks the English values of respectability when he describes the state that Juan made
his arrival in: Juan, though careless, young, and magnificent, / And rich in rubles, diamond, cash,
and credit, / Who did not limit much his bills per week... (Byron X.553 554). Juan was acting as a
diplomat for Russia s ruler, so he must have been seen as a man of high standing among the people
of London. To this end, Catherine granted him a fortune and transformed him from a poor boy into
a wealthy young man. Through this development and the ensuing extravagance described, Byron
implies that men were judged in Victorian England

Why The Enzyme Is Understanding Their Properties Essay
An important aspect of studying proteins is understanding their properties. The hypothesis of this
experiment aimed to test whether the enzyme in question, N acetyl ОІ D Hexosaminidase, has an
overall negative charge and will elute from the DEAE column in the first protein peak. The
experiment was done in two parts. The absorbance values obtained from conducting the Lowry
proteinassay were used to extrapolate the total amount of protein and calculate the concentration of
the protein. The total amount of protein in the sample was 120Вµg and the concentration of the
protein was 24.0 Вµg/Вµl, which was within the allowed range of error. An enzymeassay with
paranitrophenol was conducted to determine the specific activity of the enzyme. The specific
activity of the isozyme HEX B was calculated to be 0.00009 units/mg and the specific activity of
the isozyme HEX A was 0.00004 units/mg. At the conclusion of this experiment, the data obtained
from the ionexchange chromatography indicated that the unknown protein sample contained two
isozymes of the enzyme N acetyl ОІ D Hexosaminidase. It was observed that isozyme HEX A had
an overall negative charge and therefore eluted last from the DEAE column, whereas HEX B had
an overall positive charge and did not bind to the column, hence eluted first.

molecules and ions based on their overall net charge (1,6). It can be used to separate amino acids,

Chronic Pain is a major health problem for many people, and it is defined as pain that persists or
progresses for more than three months. Chronic pain can be related to many other medical

Justice In Twelve Angry Men, By Reginald Rose
]In this trial, there are twelve angry men. These men are the jurors deciding a 19 year old s fate
of life or death. So in the drama Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose s shows justice through
motif, dialogue, and imagery. The first way Reginald Rose shows justice is with a couple motifs.
Like when the jurors do the first vote guilty, guilty, guilty, not guilty. (26 Rose) This shows justice
on how everyone thought the boy was mainly guilty in the start cause it s 11 1 guilty. Next, when
the jurors decide to do another vote in the middle of the trial and they said guilty, not guilty, guilty,
guilty, not guilty, not guilty, guilty, not guilty, not guilty, guilty, not guilty, guilty. (45 46 Rose)
This is starting to show how that one juror that voted not guilty in the beginning vote is starting to
change justice by changing the other juror s mind because it s 6 6 even on the vote. Then kinda
near the last vote there not guilty, nine, all those voting guilty, three (59 Rose). This shows how
now everyone has mostly changed and the boy will most likely be free. These motifs show how an

Abortion is highly controversial and there is quite the debate over the ethics of abortion. The
question is does the fetus have the same rights as an adult, so that it has the same right to not be

no life related to a fetusthen they believe that it has no rights. On the flip side, others may argue
that abortionis the killing of an innocent human life. The question, When does life begin? appears
over and over again throughout these debates and within cultures.Thompson believes that the

Critical Analysis Of My Antonia By Willa Cather
From the birth of the United States, freedom has been the goal. Freedom inspired a large amount
of people to come to American to start a new life. With an influx of people and the desire for
personal space, America expanded under the jurisdiction of Manifest Destiny. American s of that
time began to move west of the Mississippi river into untamed, and isolated areas. There are many
accounts of these migrations and stories of the untamed wilderness, but one of the classics is My

It has been no wonder why suicide was at it s highest peak during the peak of pioneer expansion.
Pioneers were trapped in a place they hardly knew, performing tasks they never had before, and
trying to survive without social interaction. Some of the people who had it worst at that time
were the immigrants because they could not speak English or comprehend some of the
differences between America and their homeland. Living on the prairie was a constant struggle
with not only the physical aspects, but also the mind. People like Mr. Shimerda in My Antonia
were prime examples of the suicide caused by the unhappiness with the choices they had made to
move to the new land. In book one of My Antonia Mr. Shimerda was described as a jovial man
who always played his fiddle for all to hear and who loved to sing, dance, and converse. As the
first few chapters wear on, Mr. Shimerda s personality begun to fade. He was grouchy and blunt
when he used to be happy. He was not happy with himself, which drove him to suicide. This
action was inspired by one of Willa Cather s friends in Nebraska named Annie who emigrated to
the U.S. from Poland. In a critical analysis of My Antonia by Willa Cather, John J. Murphy takes
a look into her inspirations. His article titled Raw Materials was published in Boston,
Massachusetts in 1989 by Twayne Publishing Co. About My Antonia, he said, Annie obviously
admired him, was often his companion, and describes him as a man in a million who never
swore or used dirty words like other men nor ever drank or play cards he was a clean man in

One aspect is the role that society plays in acclimatizing women to be a victim. Engel (1990 p.
44) explains that women have been taught by society to become martyrs. As children, boys are
encouraged to stick up for themselves and girls are urged to accept what is and to be passive,
conditioning women to have a victim mindset (Engel, 1990, p. 44). This psychological theory is
also supported by Hyde and Else Quest (2013 p. 298), identifying it the learned helplessness
theory. In this theory, when individuals are exposed to disagreeable situations with no hope of

The Pros And Cons Of Honey Bees
I am writing to inform you regarding a noteworthy issue that is concerning the world. One that
expects you to take immediate action and prevent the consequences that would ultimately allow the
bees to continue to suffer. Albeit little in size, honey bees and different pollinators are essential in
the creation of sustenance for people and numerous animals. Around 33% of our crops desire
pollination, that would diminish production without these crucial bees. (sos bees.org) Of the whole
U.S. farming industry, $29 billion originate from crops that require pollination. (cnn.com) Despite
their undeniable significance, honey beepopulaces have gotten little consideration and are
discovering it progressively hard to survive.
A recent report conducted by the Bee Informed Partnership demonstrated that beekeepers in the
United States lost 44 percent of their bumble bee settlements in a one year traverse. This denotes
the second year that summer misfortunes equal winter misfortunes of bees. This would resemble
that one day you came to the dinner table and had an average meal. Following one year, the
measure of the food you eat decreased by 44 percent. Consistently after that, a similar thing
happened and in the long run, you re left with nothing. Nobody questions why this happens and
there is not much change done to transform it.Much like if the honey bees go terminated there go

Machiavelli s The Prince Analysis
Machiavelli s work The Prince is, evidently, a bit dated, but the concepts that it expresses have
remained significant to present day society, even when monarchies are no longer the primary
form of government. The Prince is substantially relevant to contemporary society in today s age
because of its relation to events such as North Korea, World War II, and more. First of all,
Machiavelli illustrates on p. 16 how important it is to create a foundation for a civilization: He who
has not first laid his foundations may be able . . . to lay them afterwards, but they will be laid with
trouble to the architect and danger to the building. This quote is relevant to history when
considering the Constitution. The Constitution served, and still serves, as the foundation of the
United States. It establishes the country s laws and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The country s government and leader strive to be feared rather than loved, as Machiavelli argues
on page 43. North Korea chooses its leader based on a family line rather than merit, and its leader
constantly uses torture and brainwashing to gain its citizens respect. Additionally, Adolf Hitler
and Nazi Germany exemplify various strategies mentioned in the text. Machiavelli states on page
__, Fear is sustained by dread of punishment which will never abandon you. Hitler utilized
concentration camps to induce fear in his enemies and even the whole world. Dread of Hitler s
punishment methods successfully caused so many to fear him. One of Machiavelli s points that
can be relevant in so many situation is, Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know
what you are. (Machiavelli p. 47). This quote correlates to the political campaigns that government
officials use prior to elections. Political campaigns often aim to persuade the public without
providing factual information. Two opponents fabricate details about each other that may not be

What Is The Sociological Imagination
C. Wright Mills published this book in 1959. The Sociological Imagination is the awareness of
the relationship between personal experience and wider society. His main goal of the book was
to merge two different concepts of social reality, the individual and society. The ability to see
things socially and how they interact and influence each other. Mills emphasized the importance
of seeing the connections between social structure and individual experience and agency. He also
talks about personal troubles and public issues. What we often see and experience as personal
troubles, like being unemployed and not being able to pay yours bill are actually public issues.
These are the result of social problems that goes on in society and affect many

Misconceptions of Rastafarianism
Sam Cook 12/1/2012 Rhetoric of Reggae Tuna (Professor Snider) Common Misconceptions of the
Rastafarian People When an average person hears the word Rastafarianism, several things come to
mind. Some examples would be the stereotypical images of dreadlocks (long braids or natural
locks of hair), the smoking of ganja (marijuana), the busy streets of Trenchtown, and the reggae
rhythms of the one and only Bob Marley. Unfortunately, those things are not necessarily the
makings of what truly embodies the Rastafari culture. With the growing international popularity of
reggae in the 1970 s, the Rastafarian movement gained headway in Jamaica. Yet this came as both
a blessing and curse for the Rastafarian, because it created... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Despite Rasta s believing in different gods, it is looked down upon to judge another Rastafari
for the I s belief system or reasoning behind it. (Brodber) We are all one. The concept of InI is
that Rastafarian s are walking in step with their creator. Next on the list and created by the
majority is that Rastafari is a cult religion. First of all, Rastafari is not a cult. According to
www.merriam webster.com, a cult is 1.) A formal religious veneration. and 2.) A system of
religious beliefs and ritual. If someone were to say that Rastafarianism is a cult based on the
first definition, then the same assumption would therefore have to be made across the board
about all organized religions. Secondly, and perhaps even more importantly than the first
definition, Rastafari is not a religion. It is a spiritual livity. (Bisnauth 195 199) Livity refers to
the energy or life force that flows through all living things. (Tyehimba Salandy) My favorite is
that all Rastafarians are from Jamaica. Though the origins of the livity were formed in Jamaica and
focused on repatriation and reconnecting with Africa, I thiopia, the motherland of all human
creation, not all Rastafarians are Jamaican. (Hausman and Marley) There are Rastafarian people of

Database Modeling, System Design, And Improve Performance
MODELING
As databases and technology have evolved, Elmasri and Navathe point out that increasingly
complex data structures for modeling to meet the needs of the more advanced and larger databases
that were also beginning to include newer data types (2016). As stated before, with more complex
databases, there are more vulnerabilities in security that need to be planned for and mitigated
wherever possible. A DBMS is responsible for designing the methods in which data recovery and
security is handled, while tools are used within database modeling that facilitate modeling, system
design, and improve performance (Elmasri Navathe, 2016). When applying these tools to database
creation, security should always be considered in each step of modeling and creating the database.
The DBMS provides a security and authorization subsystem to the DBA so that they can use it to
create accounts and specify account restrictions (Elmasri Navathe, 2016).
AGGREGATION AND INFERENCE
Aggregation occurs when a user combines individual pieces of data that they have access to in
order to infer more of the bigger picture which they do not have access to, which can happen when
a user only has access to some records but draws enough information from the ones they do have
access to in order to figure out information that has been deemed off limits to them (Harris, 2002).
This is, of course, a potential security risk which should be corrected. On the other hand, knowledge
representation techniques,

Gypsies Vs. Traditional Romani Women
Some individuals see the word gypsy as a part of joke, about stealing away children in the night,
or being ripped off by them. Most people do not realize that gypsies do exist an ethnic group
(Romani people). Unfortunately, gypsies do not have their own country, they move from country to
country in order, to find a better life or weak rich people. There are many facts about, that they
practice dark magic, drugs, human trafficking and to name a few. Also, traditional gypsyhas strict
guidelines for the way women dress, and how they act around the men. The Gypsy Romani law is
a strict series of laws that govern all aspects of Gypsy life. Traditional Romani women wouldn t be

nations, because love must be build out of taboo our hearts make decisions for us and sometimes
we should let our feelings to spread out of restrictions. Additionally, these traditions are made not
because gypsies are unwelcomed people or discriminate other nations but because they want to

Incorporating Technology Into Grade Level Performance...
In, an attempt to improve the integration of available technology, educators and policymakers are
reevaluating ways to incorporate technology into the grade level performance standards without
separating the two educational standards (Collins Halverson, 2009). Presently, students and
teachers have the ability to transmit information through third and fourth generation technological
resources; yet, few take advantage of the endless educational possibilities (Francis Mishra, 2008;
Marino, Sameshima, Beecher, 2009; Koehler Mishra, 2006; Sharples, 2007; Su Luan Teo, 2009).

In spite of teachers negative attitudes towards changes and/ or technophobia, as the world changes,
so must the classrooms, teachers, and delivery of knowledge to students (Hall, 2010; Su Luan Teo
2009; Ursavas Karal, 2009; Prensky, 2008). Not addressing teachers negative attitudes will
invariably lead to continued challenges with incorporating classroom technology, especially with
those teachers who focus lessons on memorization or note taking. Typically, in many American
classrooms, teachers can be seen using the same traditional methodologies used a century or more
ago with change resistant teachers instructing students seated in straight rows within the classroom
(Sharples, 2007; Overbay, Patterson, Grable, 2009; Su Luan Teo 2009). On the other hand,
researchers suggested that teaching in that manner should also include active learning where
students take part in the instructional process (Strasser, 2006; Ryu Parsons, 2009). Clearly, based
on research there is an effectual demand for teachers to focus lessons on learning ways to learn or
research, by using technology to promote active learning and build students technological skills
(Ara, 2009; Prensky, 2008; Ryu Parsons, 2009). This research will add to the body of literature of
prior theoretical studies of classroom technology usage and Technology attitude scale (TAS)

The Role of Autonomy and Responsibility Held by the Bourgeoisie during the Industrial Revolution
During the Industrial Revolution the population was broken up into two classes; the minority was
the rich, industrial middle class, the bourgeoisie, and the majority was the poor working class, the
proletariat. The bourgeoisie believed in their rights to gain wealth and preserve individuality and in
their duty to maintain these rights, which in turn determined the harsh laboring and living
conditions of the working class. The indignities forced upon the lower class also caused movements
that challenged the bourgeoisie to alter their beliefs. These included the creation of Communism,

Their labor was necessary because wages rose only to a subsistent level. It was either work in
appalling surroundings or die of starvation.
Since this hard laboring class only received subsistent wages, their living conditions were bleak
as well. Wages were only high enough for most of the working class to buy products necessary
for survival, such as food and shelter. In his essay, Г¬The Condition of the Working Class in
England,Г® Frederick Engels described the city of Manchester, England, which was a primary
manufacturing town. Everywhere heaps of debris, refuse, and offal; standing pools for gutters,
and a stench which alone would make it impossible for a human being in any degree civilized to
live in such a district (2). At the end of this essay, he admitted his description could not truthfully
represent the reality of it. The breakup of the working class family also occurred due to such low
wages. In another essay, The Impact of the Factory System on Women and the Family,Г® Engels
described the moral degeneration of working class families. He argued that without a mother or a
father there to raise the children, they grew up without any authority figures except the harsh
discipline they received at the factory jobs they worked as small children. He said, Г¬and children
growing up in this savage way, amidst these demoralizing influences, are expected to turn out

their quality of service, processes, methods and resulting a better customer satisfaction. The study
made revealed that although the Lean Manufacturing was designed and developed for the
manufacturing industries initially, it is now proven that even the service industries could
implement the Lean principles as well, and increasing the customer satisfaction.
In this project, we compare and contrast how lean manufacturing principles and its best practices
have been applied in the Food industry (manufacturing industry) and the Health Care and Hospital
systems (service industry).

Individuality Vs. Conformity In The Shining Houses By...
Individuality and conformity is a battle between being a leader and being a follower, finding out
who you are and your desires to be accepted by others. In Alice Munro s short story The Shining
Houses and Wallace Stevens poem Disillusionment of Ten O Clock , both the author and the poet
shows how being an individualis more valuable than being one of those conformed copies .
Is it better to stand out and compromise your values or is it better to stay comfortable in the
crowd and give into peer pressure? Often in our society we are forced to act in a certain way in
order to be considered normal and fit into a group, that is why a lot of people eventually conform.

The poet mentions: the house are haunted by white night gowns. (Stevens, 1 2) Wearing white
night gowns when sleeping were a common thing, the poet said that the houses were being

something different or colorful: None are green,/ Or purple with green rings,/ Or green with
yellow rings/ Or yellow with blue rings (3 6) These white night gowns symbolizes the dark side
of conformity, the neighbor is being haunted by these ghosts . The whiteness of these night
gowns represents lack of imagination and everybody were close minded. The old sailor were
the only one in the poem who dares to dream and be different from those white night gowns
copies: Only, here and there, an old sailor,/ Drunk and asleep in his bootss/ Catches Tigers/ In red

Essay On The Great Mughal Era
INTRODUCTION
The Indian subcontinent experienced a huge shift in the economical and social conditions with the
advent of the first Mughal emperor, Babar. Babar introduced reforms of which the natives were not
used to. His successors continued the same policies, with each implementing his own will. This
report is targeted on the social and economical reforms each of the great Mughal brought. Each
period is unique in its own sense.
AKBAR (11 February 1556 27 October 1605)
Social Reforms
Akbar s reign is considered as one the most progressive and productive reigns of the great Mughals.
Akbar s reign significantly influenced the course of Indian history. During his rule, the Mughal
Empire tripled in size and wealth. His period is noted not only for the developments and reforms
that he introduced but also for the flourishment in the arts and architecture. We also come to see

Examples Of Archetype In The Odyssey
The character archetype, the creature of nightmare, is showcased numerous times between both
novels, The Odyssey and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, respectively. Polyphemus, the
cyclops and giant son of Poseidon, which is featured in the ninth chapter of Homer s, The Odyessey,
and the giant squid, featured in the eighteenth chapter of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea,
are just two examples of the character archetype, the creature of nightmare.
In The Odyssey, Odysseus, who is the main protagonist of the novel, and his shipmates meet
Polyphemus after docking on the island of the cyclopes. Odysseus s curiosity wandered him and

  • 2. Sonic And The Black Knight INTRO Sonic and The Black Knight. (I swear it s not racist.) I remember renting this game when I was younger several years ago, but I don t have too many fond memories of it. Maybe I was a stupid kid who just didn t understand how the game worked, or maybe I just knew crap when I saw it. Either way, let s get right into it. GAMEPLAY; CONTROLS Right off the bat you ll notice that unlike Sonic and the Secret Rings you don t control Sonic by tilting the wiimote, instead movement has been shifted to the control stick on the Nun chuck. This is a significant improvement in terms of control. It just feels better, ya know. However, like almost every game in this series. It s always two steps forward and one step back. ... • 3. James Joyce Annotated Bibliography Essay Joyce s modernistic view of Dublin society permeates all of his writings. The Irish experiences account for a large portion of Joyce s writings. Stephen Dedalus is sometimes Joyce s pseudonym and represents Joyce and his life in Joyce s works. Joyce plays a crucial role in the modernist movement in literature. Some of the well known innovative techniques used by Joyce are symbolism, realism and stream of consciousness. James Joyces writings contain autobiographical matter and display his view of life in Dublin, Ireland with the use of symbolism, realism, and stream of consciousness. Joyce was born into a middle class, Catholic family in Dublin, Ireland on February 2, 1882 and wrote all his works about that city, even though he lived ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dubliners revolves around the everyday lives of men, women, and children n the Irish capital of Dublin and is based on real people and places that were part of Joyce s life. Shortly after his mother s death, in place of Stephen Hero, Joyce wrote A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, which was based on the events of his life (Gifford 160). In this largely autobiographical novel, Joyce wrote that I go to encounter for the millionth time the reality of experience and to force in the smithy of my soul the uncreated conscience of my race (Gifford 177). Joyce appears as the character Stephen Dedalus in this book. Like Joyce, Stephen finds himself in conflict with his family, the Roman Catholic Church, and the nationalistic zeal of the Irish people. Also, like Joyce, Dedalus leaves Ireland and wishes to become a writer (www.jamesjoyce.ie). By depicting Stephen with a mixture of irony and sympathy, Joyce suggests the special importance of the artist in the modern world. Divided into five chapters, this book follows Stephen s life from childhood through adolescence to manhood. We are essentially given a window into Stephen s consciousness, and the whole world is unveiled to us through that single aperture. According to Sydney Bolt, no novel written before A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man can match its variety in styles This indicates Joyce s originality. A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man is told in characteristic dialogue and ironically sympathetic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Augustus Caesar Bad Leader Many people would not hear the words good leader and Adolf Hitler in the same sentence. Nor would anyone usually say that Mahatma Gandhi was an aggressive leader. Both past leaders show many similar leadership qualities, but the way they broadcasted their ideologies diverges severely. Many world leaders possess the qualities of authority, but none can quite be a perfect commander. In fact, there is no such thing as a perfect leader. No commander can perfectly lead a division into battle, and no chief can perfectly manage his tribe. For every strength of a good leader, a flaw exists. There is no impeccable image of a leader. Everyone knows of Augustus Caesar, the first Roman emperor. There is a whole month named after him. Augustus was a great leader favored by the people and by neighboring countries. But most people don t know that he also banished his daughter and granddaughter, that his potential heirs kept mysteriously dying, and that he was extremely egotistical. Even though he expanded his empire more than any other leader had before and reformed the entire government of Rome, he still had many pitfalls that kept him from being a perfect leader. Although all Kerouac s main novels contain elements of autobiography, the novel On the Road is presented as the fictional autobiography of Sal Paradise s road life. Kerouac involves himself in a self interview , that appears similar to Thoreau s heroic reading of his life. Instead of developing different narrative strategies, Kerouac uses four major trips, he made between 1947 and 1950 to convey the cultural, psychological, and spiritual changes that occurred. By examining his life as a fiction, Kerouac effectively frees himself from the confines of the narrator s role in autobiography and interprets his experiences with Neal Cassady beyond their historical ... • 7. Howard Zinn s Slavery Without Submission Slavery is a system where an individual can buy or own another person as property. The slave is at the mercy of their master and is free to be bought, sold, or traded by their master. The United States first adopted a policy of slavery in the middle of the 17th century. Before American slavery became solely race based, there were indentured servants. These people worked on farms or government projects until they had paid off their debts. Eventually this practice evolved into the race based slavery that is familiar today. African slaves imported from Africa were cheaper than indentured servants, and they had little to no voice in their treatment. Hence the first part of the title of Howard Zinn s book Slavery Without Submission . The African people sent to America might have been slaves, but they never lost hope in their eventual freedom. Hymns, protests, and spirituals, kept the freedom fervor alive in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although she had been born a slave, she decided to assist her fellow slaves escape. Several forms of slave resistance were created to combat their masters. Ulrich Phillips, a major historian of the South, described numerous ways as to which slaves might protest. Men such as David Walker and Frederick Douglass felt that slaves were entitled to their freedom and should in turn fight for their rights. During the Civil War, the frequency and audacity of African slave revolts increased. For instance, in 1841 a slave ship was overpowered by its slave cargo and then sailed to the British West Indies. • 8. Essay on Narrative Style and Structure of James and the... Narrative Style and Structure of James and the Giant Peach The books that Roald Dahl has written have very interesting narrative styles. In the story James and the Giant Peach, Dahl uses vivid imagination. He uses many imaginary situations but yet at the same time encompasses enough realistic situations that the reader can still relate to it. In James and the Giant Peach, it starts out introducing a boy named James Henry Trotter who lives with his loving mother and father. The narrator of the book tells us, the readers, that James and his family s dream is to sail to New York City and climb all the way to the top of the Empire State Building. This introduction makes us think that this story is realistic, because the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These bugs carry on many different human like characteristics, which help make Dahl s imaginative story seem somewhat realistic. All of these bugs talk to James about how they hate life on the hill and a bug eats away the stem of the peach and they go rolling down the hill. Throughout the story the peach, with all of the characters inside, is on a dangerous adventure. After going through oceans and winds, the peach lands them on the top of the Empire State Building. The bugs help capture the evil aunts and they live happily together. This story is told in the third person point of view, which helps the reader understand the whole story and not just one character s side. If the story was told by just one character s point of view, the story could be similar but one would only see the view of that character. By Dahl using third person point of view, this allows the readers to see each characters views and thoughts of what is happening in the story. Also, throughout the book Dahl has the narrator asking many questions to make the reader imagine what is going to happen next. Usually the question comes toward the end of a page so the reader has to wonder or is caught in suspense until the page is flipped. This gives the reader a chance to use their imagination and guess what happens next. I believe this sort of writing helps Dahl pull his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They each travel back to the antebellum South for different amounts of time, gaining different insights from the same events. Kevin, a white man, travels back to a time of privilege, while his wife Dana, a black woman, travels back to a timeof hardship and enslavement. Their contrasting perspectives cause them to see the world differently. For example, Kevin draws from his sole point of view, while Dana uses her own perspective with other people s perspectives. No matter when or where they are, Dana and Kevin determine the truththrough what see and what they already know. Kevin and Dana first conflict when Dana returns to 1976 for the first time. Kevin is in disbelief about where Dana went, as he suggests what she experienced was a dream (17). He says this despite the fact that he saw Dana disappear and reappear, something out of the ordinary. His perspective is different from Dana s, meaning what he sees isn t always what actually happens. Dana goes back in time, while Kevin saw Dana vanish and reappear (16). Despite not knowing what Dana experienced, he still believes his point of view is a fact. Kevin insists Dana s experience was a dream, and refers to his perspective as facts (16). • 10. The Importance Of Love In Romeo And Juliet Now many would call Romeo and Juliet the play that teaches us that love, at first sight, is real. While reading this play the only thing the audience will be able to understand from this story is that love holds no bounds, that some love is forever. In class, we came to the conclusion that this play is about immature, naive, stubborn kids who do not understand the concept of what real love is. Their demised stemmed from a fast paced relationship which bloomed from rejection. Stupidity, naivety, stubbornness, and immaturity are all traits that may be used to describe Romeo Montague. Now, these traits shaped Romeo to be the most irresponsible guy ever which lead him and his supposed love to their demise. Now it is not to be said that Juliet was not at fault, on the contrary, she is also to blame for their demise because the traits Romeo has she seems to have too. Most of these ideas seem pretty petty for older people, which is why it weighs so heavy on them, they are children, if they would have waited to even commence their relationship they would have outgrown most of these traits and their demise may have been avoided altogether. At the beginning of the play, we see Romeo carry the same feelings that he expresses for Juliet for someone else. Before there was Juliet in Romeo s life there was Rosaline, another Capulet. If you see how Romeo expresses his feelings for Rosaline, you can see that it is the same way he later expresses them for Juliet. An example of this would be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Bullying At The State Of Nevada We all might still recall back to our school days and the bully on the playground making recess intolerable for some; or perhaps in the lunch room bully who helped themselves to our desserts. That bully might have ended up in the principal s office, but likely not much more became of them. Bullies have always been around, but now they have changed their preferred tactics. With the growth of technology making our ordinary lives simpler, criminals and bullies have also used technology to aid them in their transgressions. Many bullies have advanced to become cyber bullies and their chosen scare tactic makes use of computers, cellular phones, or some other type of communications device. What then is the actual definition of the act of bullying? • 15. Attention Deficit Disorder ( Adhd ) Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD) continues to be a complex and widespread problem that is occurring in children at an unprecedented rate. According to DSM V, a child must present symptoms before the age of twelve and display the symptoms for at least six months. There are two types of ADHD disorders; inattentive type and hyperactive impulsive. A child could also have a combination of the two. Some of the most common symptoms for inattention include lack of attention, difficulty sustaining attention, difficulty following instructions, easily distracted and forgetfulness. Common symptoms for hyperactive impulsive include fidgeting, excessive talking, being on the go very often and interrupting others (Mash Wolfe, 2008). Both types of ADHD may affect a child s social, personal and academic life. Children with the disorder may have sleeping problems and are more prone to accidents. Young children with ADHD show signs of aggression as young as preschool. During preschool years, they are ignoring their parents, acting out in public and getting into fights with other students or family members (Modesto, et al., 2008). As a child enters his or her adolescent years, they are more likely to do poorly in school and in some cases may even drop out. Their defiance poses a challenge for the parents (Modesto et al, 2014). Studies have shown that parents with children who have ADHD frequently reinforce their behaviors by giving attention to their impulsivity (Modesto, et al., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The hypothesis of this experiment aimed to test whether the enzyme in question, N acetyl ОІ D Hexosaminidase, has an overall negative charge and will elute from the DEAE column in the first protein peak. The experiment was done in two parts. The absorbance values obtained from conducting the Lowry proteinassay were used to extrapolate the total amount of protein and calculate the concentration of the protein. The total amount of protein in the sample was 120Вµg and the concentration of the protein was 24.0 Вµg/Вµl, which was within the allowed range of error. An enzymeassay with paranitrophenol was conducted to determine the specific activity of the enzyme. The specific activity of the isozyme HEX B was calculated to be 0.00009 units/mg and the specific activity of the isozyme HEX A was 0.00004 units/mg. At the conclusion of this experiment, the data obtained from the ionexchange chromatography indicated that the unknown protein sample contained two isozymes of the enzyme N acetyl ОІ D Hexosaminidase. It was observed that isozyme HEX A had an overall negative charge and therefore eluted last from the DEAE column, whereas HEX B had an overall positive charge and did not bind to the column, hence eluted first. With an influx of people and the desire for personal space, America expanded under the jurisdiction of Manifest Destiny. American s of that time began to move west of the Mississippi river into untamed, and isolated areas. There are many accounts of these migrations and stories of the untamed wilderness, but one of the classics is My Antonia by Willa Cather. It has been no wonder why suicide was at it s highest peak during the peak of pioneer expansion. Pioneers were trapped in a place they hardly knew, performing tasks they never had before, and trying to survive without social interaction. Some of the people who had it worst at that time were the immigrants because they could not speak English or comprehend some of the differences between America and their homeland. Living on the prairie was a constant struggle with not only the physical aspects, but also the mind. People like Mr. Shimerda in My Antonia were prime examples of the suicide caused by the unhappiness with the choices they had made to move to the new land. In book one of My Antonia Mr. Shimerda was described as a jovial man who always played his fiddle for all to hear and who loved to sing, dance, and converse. As the first few chapters wear on, Mr. Shimerda s personality begun to fade. He was grouchy and blunt when he used to be happy. He was not happy with himself, which drove him to suicide. This action was inspired by one of Willa Cather s friends in Nebraska named Annie who emigrated to the U.S. from Poland. In a critical analysis of My Antonia by Willa Cather, John J. Murphy takes a look into her inspirations. His article titled Raw Materials was published in Boston, Massachusetts in 1989 by Twayne Publishing Co. About My Antonia, he said, Annie obviously admired him, was often his companion, and describes him as a man in a million who never swore or used dirty words like other men nor ever drank or play cards he was a clean man in everyway. This psychological theory is also supported by Hyde and Else Quest (2013 p. 298), identifying it the learned helplessness theory. In this theory, when individuals are exposed to disagreeable situations with no hope of avoidance, they learn to accept the circumstance and become helpless (Hyde Else, 2013, p. 298). Database Modeling, System Design, And Improve Performance MODELING As databases and technology have evolved, Elmasri and Navathe point out that increasingly complex data structures for modeling to meet the needs of the more advanced and larger databases that were also beginning to include newer data types (2016). As stated before, with more complex databases, there are more vulnerabilities in security that need to be planned for and mitigated wherever possible. A DBMS is responsible for designing the methods in which data recovery and security is handled, while tools are used within database modeling that facilitate modeling, system design, and improve performance (Elmasri Navathe, 2016). When applying these tools to database creation, security should always be considered in each step of modeling and creating the database. The DBMS provides a security and authorization subsystem to the DBA so that they can use it to create accounts and specify account restrictions (Elmasri Navathe, 2016). AGGREGATION AND INFERENCE Aggregation occurs when a user combines individual pieces of data that they have access to in order to infer more of the bigger picture which they do not have access to, which can happen when a user only has access to some records but draws enough information from the ones they do have access to in order to figure out information that has been deemed off limits to them (Harris, 2002).
