The document describes the six-step process for manufacturing wool from sheep fleece into balls of wool. First, sheep are sheared to remove the fleece using manual shears. The fleece is then baled and transported to a mill. Next, the fleece is washed thoroughly in a jar of water to remove dirt. After cleaning, the fleece is processed through a carding machine to flatten and comb the fibers. The carded fibers are then twisted into a rope-like structure called sliver. Finally, the sliver is stretched and twisted into yarn, which is wound into balls.
1. The picture shows a detailed process on how to manufacture wool. The process will involve
multiple activities using variety of tools. In total, there will be six steps taken to create balls of
wools from the sheep.
In the first step, sheep are sheared to remove the fleece, and this process will be performed
manually by people using shreeder. After the fleece is baled, it will be transported to the mill.
In the next step, the fleece will be washed thoroughly. To wash the fleece, it will be put in a big
jar of water until all the dirt is removed.
After the fleece is cleaned, it will be put on carding machine. Carding machine will flatten and
comb the loose wool fibres into a sheet. The sheet will be processed in the next step by twisting
it using a mechanical tool, producing a rope called 'sliver'.
Sliver will be stretched and twisted into a yarn. Rope texture is changed from thick to thin in this
process, producing a thin yarn. The result later will be wound to form balls of wool.

2. On digitalization era, information can be accessed easily anywhere and anytime. Information is
not limited only to the local media, but the international media as well. Current generation
spends most of their time surfing on the internet by accessing social media, watching movies
and reading online articles. This huge stream of information will impact the future generation
especially on the knowledge of their local culture, and this might lead to a better/worst
situation.
On the bright side, international media exposure makes people in non-speaking English
countries to learn a language outside of their mother tongue, for example Indonesia. It pushes
people to learn English language, so they can understand the content and context of the thing
they watch or read. Nowadays we can see many kindergartens and schools offer bilingual
courses education to prepare child to speak English from early days. In big cities like Jakarta, we
often see a child speaking English to their parents as a result.
However, this advancement comes with a cost as well. This will make people more interested in
international culture than their local culture. In my university, there is a high interest to join an
international culture club, compared to the local culture club. For example, in my university
there are Japanese clubs with more than 1000 members. In most of the school, the proportion
to learn local knowledge courses is diminishing as well, since there is no interest to speak their
local language, such as Sundanese or Javanese. This makes it harder for future generation to
conserve the local heritage if the phenomenon continues.
In summary, in the era of globalization, speaking English language is a must. So, this exposure to
international media is a good thing to shape the future generation. However, to minimize the
cost, the government needs to create a mechanism to enforce student to learn local culture.
Government must also create a proper syllabus and content of local knowledge courses so the
portion of local culture can be preserved at a certain level in the educational institution. This
enforcement is expected to increase the interest of people especially students to learn their
local culture.
