2. I would select the Zimbabwe Bird….
• Symbol of one of the greatest
African civilizations South of the
Sahara – the Great Zimbabwe Ruins -
Houses of Stone – a World Heritage
Site dating back to the 11th century
• Were found at site that has been
the topic of significant controversy
and denial especially during the
colonial era on its origins and the
claim that African civilizations built the
Zimbabwe Ruins.

3. which is the national emblem of
Zimbabwe….
• A national symbol now immortalized
in the flag of the nation, its postage
stamps and its historical currency
notes and coins
• Also featured prominently in
national emblems during the colonial
era when the country was known as
Rhodesia

4. and speaks to a glorious past….
• 8 such birds were discovered in
the ruins of the Great Zimbabwe and it
remains a mystery as to the type of
bird depicted
• Many unsolved mysteries and
great legends – such as the source of
King Solomon’s gold and the link to
the Lemba ethnic tribe who have claim
to common ancestry with the Jewish
people.
