You Can Stop Sexual Harassment What is your obligation as an alleged victim? What is your obligation if a co-worker tells you about an incident? What is your obligation if you overhear an incident? What is your obligation as a manager or supervisor? What would you do if a vendor was acting inappropriately? What about a student? Are you protected if you advise someone although you may not be the victim?

Verbalize Verbalize the behavior that you find offensive Example:  “When you tell those jokes about old people …”
Explain Explain how the behavior makes you feel using I statements Example:  “I feel hurt and isolated because I am the only person here at work who is over 50 …”
Notify Notify the offender(s) of the new behavior you want or what you would like done. Example:  “I like your sense of humor and I don’t mind hearing jokes, but just not jokes at other people’s expense.  I would appreciate it if you didn’t tell jokes about old people anymore”.
Tell Tell them what you will do if the behavior continues. Example:  “If the old people jokes continue, I’m going to have to take the issue up with our supervisor or go to human resources to complain.”
Case Studies – Sexual Harassment Time Permitting Break into Groups and Assign a Spokesperson Review each case If you Don’t Come to Any Agreement, Different Conclusions will be Shared
