Problem Statement
Ms. Lath (Stakeholder) needs a way
(need/problem) to get more knowledge about
globalization through the current Indian
education system she is a part of because (insight)
it is highly unorganized and lacks a clear format
which is de-motivating. She feels it restricts her
overall growth and development as a leader in this
era of globalization.

Solutions/Ideas to this Problem
Statement
Most Obvious Solutions to this Problem:
Shift from the current Indian education system and do
your undergraduate studies at a university abroad. (i.e.
waste the one year of undergraduate studies in India).
 Shift from the current Indian education system, transfer
the credits of the first year and do your remaining
undergraduate studies at a university abroad.
Go over more readings related to Global happenings to
keep yourself updated with what is happening currently.
Go about writing a research paper on current
topics/issues.
Solutions/Ideas to this Problem
Statement
Join a social media-business group and get linked up
to industry professionals in order to discover greater
knowledge about the world.
Work with your dad (who’s perhaps an entrepreneur)
and learn about globalized trade from him.
Try getting an internship with a company and gain
practical knowledge.
Try pulling your own strings and get an internship in
a multinational and work with the middle/top
management.
Solutions/Ideas to this Problem
Statement
Make the course back in India, interesting for
yourself by doing additional read-ups apart from that
what is required/compulsory.
Be an agent of value-addition in class and hence,
make yourself an integral part of the course.
Spread awareness of the new innovative techniques of
teaching (heard about from your friends abroad)
amongst your faculty members.
Explain the advantages of new teaching
methodologies to the faculty and ask them if it can be
adopted.
Solutions/Ideas to this Problem
Statement
Request the college authorities if they can provide
you with the latest infrastructure if available.
Undertake case study analysis.
Start a club/organization in your college and
encourage students like you to be part of it and have
weekly discussions on current happenings in the
world.
Let the club/organization organize events that help to
boost globalised knowledge. Eg: mind teasers,
quizzes, crosswords, etc.
Solutions/Ideas to this Problem
Statement
Get support (both financial aid and professional aid)
for the club/organization from industry persona.
After sometime, expand this club/organization in
your locality to reach as many individuals as possible.
Expand your own horizon, by taking part in various
extra-curricular activities (elocutions/ debates/
seminars) etc.
Go for a Summer School Session (to say University of
California, Berkeley or NYU Stern or Harvard Business
School, etc.) and experience learning over there.
Solutions/Ideas to this Problem
Statement
Enroll for Summer School Sessions in your college, if
they have tie-ups with any formal institutions.
Eg: H. R. College of Commerce & Economics (where I
study back in Mumbai, India) has a tie up with Kings
College, London.
Encourage your college authorities to have some
sought of summer school of their own based on
international standards.
Start your own blog and write regularly about current
happenings and get reviews from professionals
Solutions/Ideas to this Problem
Statement
Try coordinating with the Faculty and the Class
Representative (CR) of how things can be made more
organized.
If possible, take up an important post in the course
you are enrolled and see how leadership teaches you
practical things.
Have an Academic Calendar ready at the beginning of
each semester and have included in that all project
submission dates, internal and external dates, etc.
Solutions/Ideas to this Problem
Statement
Enroll in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) and
get access to world class education sitting at home for
FREE.
Approach the university (in this case Mumbai
University) and see how they can make things more
organized.
Ask the Syllabus Committee to undergo a syllabus
revision if possible, to suit current needs of students.
Encourage the University to include an aspect of
practical learning within all its courses.
Solutions/Ideas to this Problem
Statement
If you did exceptionally well in the first year, maybe
you can ask your college for any Scholarships they
may offer.
Well if I had an unlimited budget:
I would open a University of my own back in India,
with my own syllabus and set of rules and regulations.
Take a daily flight to Berkeley (well, I love UC
Berkeley!) and attend classes of the course I want,
which would be held once a week.
Solutions/Ideas to this Problem
Statement
Probably, also take the Chancellor of the University of
Mumbai to Berkeley and show him what universities are
actually meant to be.
Set up the necessary infrastructure in my own college,
which would facilitate LIVE lectures in Mumbai, India
from Universities abroad.
Give in monetary benefits to the staff of the Mumbai
University to make things better, quicker and smoother.
If I had control over the laws of nature:
Bring alive the world class leaders, who are dead and gone!
Get them to teach me what I always wanted to learn.
Solutions/Ideas to this Problem
Statement
If I had the power of being invisible, I would be
physically present here in Mumbai, out of no choice,
and my invisible self would be in some foreign
university.
I would love kidnapping all the excellent professors
from around the world and get them to teach me.
If I were a five year old:
I wouldn’t bother going to school. I’d sit at home and
watch cartoons like Batman and Spiderman and learn
bits of leadership from them.

IDEA
SELECTION
The Most Practical Idea:
Shift from the current Indian education system and
do your undergraduate studies at a university abroad.
(i.e. waste the one year of undergraduate studies in
India).
Explanation: I think this is the most practical, since
Ms. Lath just doesn’t like it India, it’s better if she
wastes a year than continuing 2 more years with a
wasteful disgusted feeling. Also she has the means
(resources) to fulfill the same, so it wouldn’t be a
problem.
The Most Disruptive Idea:
Set up the necessary infrastructure in my own college,
which would facilitate LIVE lectures in Mumbai, India
from Universities abroad.
Explanation: This would enable faculty members back
in India, to see how the systems work there and how
interactive and organized the lectures are – the way in
which topics are covered as per the schedule and the
assignments are submitted way before the deadline.
Your Favorite Idea:
Go for a Summer School
Session (to say University of
California, Berkeley or NYU
Stern or Harvard Business
School, etc.) and experience
learning with students over
there.
