CYBER SECURITY ENHANCEMENT IN NIGERIA. A CASE STUDY OF SIX STATES IN THE NORT...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: Security plays an important role in human life and endeavors. Securing information and
disseminating are critical challenges in the present day. This study aimed at identifying innovative technologies
that aid cybercrimes and can constitute threats to cybersecurity in North Central (Middle Belt) Nigeria covering
its six States and the FCT Abuja. A survey research design was adopted. The researchers employed the use of
Google form in administering the structured questionnaire. The instruments were faced validated by one expert
each from ICT and security. Cronbach Alpha reliability Coefficient was employed and achieved 0.83 level of
coefficient. The population of the study was 200, comprising 100 undergraduate students from computer science
and Computer/Robotics Education, 80 ICT instructors, technologists and lecturers in the University and
Technical Colleges in the Middle Belt Nigeria using innovative technologies for their daily jobs and 20 officers
of the crime agency such as: Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) andEconomic and Financial
Crimes Commission (EFCC). Three research purposes and questions as well as the hypothesis guided the study
on Five (5) point Likert scale. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation for the three
research questions while three hypotheses were tested using t-test at 0.05 level of significance. Major findings
revealed that serious steps are needed to better secure the cybers against cybercrimes. Motivation, types, threats
and strategies for the prevention of cybercrimes were identified. The study recommends that government,
organizations and individuals should place emphasis on moral development, regular training of its employees,
regular update of software, use strong password, back up data and information, produce strong cybersecurity
policy, install antivirus soft and security surveillance (CCTV) in offices in order to safeguard its employees and
properties from being hacked and vandalized.

ABSTRACT :This research aims to analyze the correlation between employee work stress and digital literacy

quantitative approach, the study's objectives are descriptive and causal, adopting a positivist paradigm with a
deductive approach to theory development and a survey research strategy. Findings reveal that work stress
negatively and significantly impacts employee performance, while digital literacy positively and significantly

ABSTRACT: Salman Rushdie’s novels are humorous books about serious times. His cosmopolitanism and
hybrid identity allowed him access to multiple cultures, religions, languages, dialects, and various modes of
writing. His style is often classified as magic realism, blending the imaginary with the real. He draws
inspiration from both English literature and Indian classical sources. Throughout his works, there is a lineage of
‘bastards of history’, a carnival of shameful characters scrolling all along his works. Rushdie intertwines fiction
with reality, incorporating intertextual references to Western literature in his texts, and frequently employing
mythology to explore history. This paper focuses on Rushdie’s three novels: Midnight’s Children, Shame, and
Haroun and the Sea of Stories, analyzing his postmodern storytelling techniques that aim to explore human
vices and follies while offering socio-political criticism.

Altice USA, Inc. Presents Offer to Acquire Cogeco in Order to Own Atlantic
Broadband
Altice USA, Inc. announces that it has presented an offer to Cogeco Inc. and Cogeco
Communications Inc. to acquire 100% of the issued and outstanding shares of Cogeco. Altice
USA has also entered into an arrangement to sell all the Canadian assets of Cogeco to the largest
long-term shareholder of Cogeco, Rogers Communications Inc., if its transaction with Cogeco is
completed. Upon completion of the overall transaction, Altice USA would own all the U.S. assets
of Cogeco, namely Atlantic Broadband.
Compelling and Value-Maximizing All-Cash Offer with Significant Premium
The aggregate all-cash consideration offered for all of the outstanding shares of CGO and CCA,
including those owned by Rogers, is approximately C$10.3 billion (US$7.8 billion). This
includes approximately C$4.8 billion (US$3.6 billion) to be paid by Altice USA for the U.S.
assets:
• All the multiple voting shares of CGO are held in a company controlled by Mr. Louis Audet, the
Executive Chairman of Cogeco, and members of the Audet family. Given the position of the
controlling shareholder, its support is necessary to complete a transaction, and as such the Altice
USA offer includes a sizeable premium on those shares. Specifically, the offer includes C$800
million (US$612 million) to the Audet family for their ownership interests, which include 100%
of the multiple voting shares of CGO (“CGO MVS”) and approximately 0.9% of total
outstanding CGO subordinate voting shares (“CGO SVS”).
• The offer also includes C$106.53 per share for the remaining CGO SVS and C$134.22 per
share for each CCA subordinate voting share (“CCA SVS”).

rooms in which they live. RoomClip users number 8.3 million per month (as of May 2020). Photos they contribute to the service total more than 4 million.
RoomClip is one of the largest SNS in Japan specialized in an area of interior decoration. RoomClip users can access housing and lifestyle information, including
ideas for storage according to room arrangement, numbers of residents and various other living styles and DIY ideas, through the photos of actual examples that
have been contributed to the service. They can also exchange information about interior decoration with other users and buy items appearing in the contributed
photos through the SNS service. RoomClip allows companies to directly connect with users interested in interior decoration and help them enhance visibility and

Rogers Communications (Canada) confirms agreement with Altice USA to
purchase Canadian assets of Cogeco
Rogers Communications Inc. confirmed its agreement with Altice USA, Inc. (“Altice USA”)
to purchase all of the Canadian assets of Cogeco Inc. and Cogeco Communications Inc. for
a net purchase price of approximately $4.9 billion. The transaction is conditional upon
completion of the Altice USA offer on the terms publicly announced. As the largest
long-term shareholder of Cogeco, Rogers is supportive of the value being created for all
shareholders with the significant premium in the Altice USA offer. Rogers currently owns
41% of the outstanding CGO subordinate voting shares and 33% of outstanding CCA
subordinate voting shares (“CCA SVS”). Under the terms of the all-cash offer by Altice USA
to purchase all of the outstanding shares of CGO and CCA, the offer prices and premiums
are as follows:
• C$800 million to Mr. Louis Audet, Executive Chairman of Cogeco, and members of the
Audet family for their controlling ownership interests, which include 100% of the multiple

of the world’s largest data center providers, operates a platform with over 500,000 sqm of colocation space across 160 data centers located in more than 20
countries and regions. While meeting the growing demand from the market, NTT has also committed to following sustainable best practices where possible
while growing its global data center platform. NTT Ltd.’s Global Data Centers division will soon launch new data center capability in India, the UK, Japan,
USA, Germany, Malaysia and Indonesia. When fully complete, these data centers will provide over 400 megawatts (MW) of IT load across these markets.

holdings as well as existing 2100MHz spectrum while employing advanced technologies such as dual connectivity. By deploying 3.5GHz, a prime frequency
for 5G, the three-month trial will give Singtel customers an early taste of the ultra-fast mobile speeds and benefits associated with 5G, while they access

announced that Verizon is providing supplemental cellular coverage for Window Rock and Chinle, Arizona in response to requests for assistance during

with purpose. As the Official Technology Partner of Red Bull Basement’s third year, NTT Ltd.’s Cloud Communications Division will facilitate live virtual
workshops to empower teams of university students from host countries to innovate for good. NTT Ltd. will mentor the students throughout the competition and
judge the entries at the final Global Workshop, where a winning team will be announced. Launched in 2015 in São Paulo, Brazil, Red Bull Basement supports
social innovators using technology to tackle social and environmental issues at universities. In a year where connecting through technology has been more
important than ever, Red Bull Basement decided to virtualize the program with a partner who has a proven track record of supporting companies through digital
transformations and providing a one-of-a-kind online experience. The program encourages the next generation of diverse thinking and innovation and is centered

SES Secures Distribution of Local Channels in Central America with the SES-6 Satellite

Grupo A, a media consortium based in Guatemala City, has partnered with SES, the leader in global content connectivity solutions, and Trabroadcast
SA, a local integrator for several TV stations in Guatemala and Honduras, to provide a full suite of managed services to broadcast two local free-to-air
channels, Canal Antigua and Conectados con Dios TV, to viewers across Guatemala via the SES-6 satellite. Under the agreement, Trabroadcast SA will
be broadcasting the TV channels through their teleport in Guatemala and using a multiplex turnkey service on the SES-6 satellite. Instead of having SES
uplink the signal from its teleport to the free-to-air satellite platform on SES-6, Trabroadcast SA will do its own uplinking, ensuring high quality and
availability of image and sound, without added investment in infrastructure. Canal Antigua offers a program portfolio that provides national news,
analysis, as well as spaces for debate and opinion, supported by a global strategic alliance with CNN. Conectados con Dios TV is a channel focusing
on religious content. SES-6 offers enhanced coverage over the Americas, delivering rich viewing experiences either through direct satellite TV
broadcast or indirectly through cable TV head-ends.

Rogers Communications and Cable Cable announced a joint agreement that would see Rogers acquire Cable Cable, a family-owned and locally
operated company based out of Fenelon Falls Ontario. Cable Cable currently provides Internet, television, and home phone services to over 6,000
residents and businesses across the City of Kawartha Lakes Region. The company will continue to lead the business until it becomes a wholly owned
subsidiary of Rogers Communications. During this time, there will be no changes for customers, and they will continue to experience the same great
products and service as they do today. Rogers is committed to continuing Cable Cable’s strong local presence and all employees will be invited to
remain with the company. Rogers and Cable Cable recognize how important it is to deliver reliable, high-speed rural broadband and world-class
products and services. Over the coming months, the companies will share plans to offer local customers additional Internet and entertainment services,

newest Canadian soccer icon can be seen nationally across Canada, as Sportsnet has signed a deal of its own, acquiring the exclusive national
broadcast rights to the Barclay’s FA Women’s Super League (FA WSL) – the highest league of women’s football in England. Sportsnet will
broadcast 50 regular season games, plus the semifinals and finals of the Women’s FA Cup. Comprised of 12 teams, the FA WSL is entering its 10th
season, with Chelsea currently holding the league trophy.

NETS or Network for Electronic Transfers announced its plan to accelerate the development and delivery of NETS digital cross-border payment
services, leveraging Singtel’s advanced ConnectPlus Managed Network and Amazon Web Services’ (AWS’) cloud computing platform. This
collaboration will pave the way for Singaporeans to make purchases at more retail outlets abroad in the region using NETS while foreign visitors
will be able to seamlessly make payment to NETS’ merchants in Singapore using overseas e-wallets and services. The collaboration is timely as
Southeast Asia’s underbanked population, worth an estimated US$1 trillion by the year 2025, will need more access to digital financial services.
According to Bain’s 2019 e-Conomy SEA report research, the region will have more than 300 million internet users, with 80% of these users being
digital savvy and mobile-first consumers who expect convenience and personalisation, and better access to digital payment services. This
partnership will enable NETS to accelerate its expansion by making available its suite of digital payment services across Southeast Asia.
Leveraging Singtel’s advanced network infrastructure and AWS cloud services like database, containers, serverless storage and security, NETS
will be able to provide quick and localised connectivity for potential partners to access its cross-border payment services. Singtel will use its
advanced software-defined network services to provide dedicated, secure high-speed connectivity to support NETS’ regional payment network.
Singtel’s cloud gateway service simplifies network management, enabling NETS to also deploy and manage its virtual private clouds around the
region conveniently and efficiently.

Singtel and Great Eastern announced their partnership to launch a range of general insurance products spanning home, motor and travel, jointly
developed by both companies. These innovative insurance offerings, underwritten by Great Eastern, seek to address customer needs arising from
their increasingly digital lifestyles, featuring telco-centric benefits that are industry firsts. This collaboration expands Singtel’s foray into
insurance, tapping its wide customer base to reach more than 60% of all households in Singapore, and valuable customer insights that help tailor
insurance products to customers’ lifestyle needs. To start, Singtel and Great Eastern will be introducing Singtel Home Protect, a home insurance
first that provides coverage for both telco bills and home contents. The plan reimburses Singtel broadband expenses besides covering renovation,
furniture, appliances, valuables and personal effects, which most home owners do not insure today. Insurance that bundles both home contents and
broadband is synergistic, as home owners typically sign up for or re-contract their broadband services when they shift or renovate their homes. In
the coming weeks, Singtel and Great Eastern will also be offering car owners motor insurance. For travellers keen to tour the world once more
travel restrictions lift, Singtel will be introducing travel insurance with mobile-related benefits. This is another first in Singapore as it includes
unique benefits such as reimbursement of Singtel mobile bill during hospitalisation due to an accident, and of additional Singtel mobile data
expenses incurred due to delays in travel, as well as repair or replacement of mobile phone in case of loss.

SoftBank Corp. announced that it will participate in the ‘Niantic Planet-Scale AR Alliance’ established by Niantic, Inc. (“Niantic”), a US-based
company that provides location-based information for games and more. With its joining the Alliance, SoftBank aims to provide sophisticated
Augmented Reality (“AR”) experiences that utilize 5G technology. SoftBank is the only Japan-based telecommunications carrier to have a
partnership agreement with Niantic for three of the smartphone game titles developed and offered by Niantic—‘Ingress,’ ‘Pokémon GO’ and
‘Harry Potter: Wizards Unite’—all of which utilize location-based information and AR technologies. SoftBank has conducted promotions that
utilize these titles and optimized its network for related live events. SoftBank will build MEC*2 test environments that deliver sophisticated AR
experiences by utilizing 5G. In cooperation with Niantic and other Niantic Planet-Scale Alliance members, SoftBank will verify specific use cases.
For the MEC servers used in these use cases, SoftBank will utilize an edge platform solution from US-based MobiledgeX, Inc. By fully utilizing
the high-speed, high-capacity and low-latency characteristics of 5G communications and MEC technology, SoftBank aims to offer sophisticated
AR experiences to customers.
