In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms
and conventions of real media products?

2. My film is an action-drama based film.The institution
I have chosen is Bollywood as their audience love films
of that genre which has provoked them to make many
films of that type.
My media institution is Aamir Khan production who has
produced few movies but all of them showing action and
drama. Lagaan and Delhi belly are one of their movies.

3. The action drama genre basically shows suspense which leads to action in the movies.
Mostly the hero is in to some sort of trouble or is in search of something which leads
to unanswered questions.Action is experienced to get to those answers.The storyline
can be a true story or a made up one.The characters are shown to be fishy, hiding
something of their past or present which leads to the movies main conclusion in the end.
This genre is mostly enjoyed by teenagers and elders because the suspense and drama is
enjoyed by the elder people.

5. The mise-en-scene of such films are mostly in showing the person in dark which depicts
stress on his mind.A mischief or night music like bat noises is played. A dark and gloomy
atmosphere is made use of mostly to show suspense or a kidnapping.A flute like music
is played during the drama scenes so that the audience gets involved in the moment
as the soft music and seriousness of the scene mixes and produces a great quality scene.
The action can be shown in crowded streets or in railway stations where the antagonist
is trying to escape. My movie holds the dramatic atmosphere with red lights on the main lead’s
face to show the mixture of emotion he is experiencing.The atmosphere is dark and gloomy
and clearly showing a dramatic scene.

6. The props used for this genre include most of the violation creating weapons for
example guns and knives.The use of these weapons suit to the action genre and
also drama as murder or assault will increase intensity in the movie.The action
genre also requires cars which speed up and crash into each other which excites
the audience even more. Cartons and garbage cans can be used too as they can
be used during the action scene. My movie makes use of a gun to show action
and then the misuse of the gun leads to drama.

7. The costumes include that of a police man mostly otherwise other characters do not need
to have any specific dress code but though as crime is mostly associated with the slums
so their dressing is supposed to be a little shabby. If the character that is shown is rich and
in to some sort of crime so his dressing needs to be proper with good suits and slicked back
hair. A police is mostly shown in all action-drama films so the police suit is necessary.The
clothes can be torn some times too as the characters can be involved in some sort of action
after which they carry the next scene in the same clothes.
I have used a police costume for one of my characters and a leather jacket for the main lead to
suit his shabbiness and his gangster look. A gentlemen’s shirt and pant is used for the father
of the main lead as he is a proper bussinessman.

8. Characters in this genre which I have chosen for my media product has his/her own story.
As this genre includes drama in it so every character having a different story would suit more
to the action-drama genre. Stories of such characters can be something from their
childhood or about a murder they have been linked with. Characters can have a suspense in
them just like in my movie there is a suspense in the main character as he kills his friend
when he visits.
Characters can be detective or have a detective type role which would combine with the
action-drama genre.
My character’s suit the drama in my movie as the main lead looks troubled and has his own
story.The father in it too looks stressed because of his son’s drug habit.The police officer is
there too as he suits the action drama because for every action there is an equal and
opposite reaction and so for the gangsters there is an opposite response from the police.

9. The editing in my genre is pretty fast during the action scenes to show panic and the
intensity of the violence.The music is fast with the base high during action scenes again to
suit the intensity of the violence. If the scene is slow and sad then soft music is played but if
the drama is loud and to it’s extreme. Photoshop is used to show wounds and a few action
sequence effects.The background can also be edited as places according to the background
are hard to shoot at. My movie includes normal editing with fast editing needed only when
action is shown.

10. The title of such movies depends on their story.The title can be related to the occupation
or to some horror incident or even some thing about the character himself. Like my movie
has the title ‘Punishment’ as the main lead wants punishment for his father’s death of which
he thinks he is responsible for.The title is usually in big fonts to connote action and the title
can be dramatic which mixes the title with action-drama genre.The title can be in blood
if the story has murder as it’s main theme or it could be with various designs with items such
as guns or knives around the title to show the audience what type of film it really is.

12. In films of the action-drama genre usually explosions and high-level gun shot action
sequences are experienced, mostly showing the protagonist or antagonist running
With gun shots or explosions following him. Proper fight skills and moves are shown
which attracts the audience. My movie does not include any such explosions or fight
skills. Everything was done simply with only one gun shot and one action move as
